Changing Tastes in Bond Films ?

ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I grew up with Roger Moore as 007, I was a big fan and loved his films. MR
TSWLM would have been my favourite movies. Now I wonder if I'm alone in
that over the years, my tastes have changed and I wouldn't watch Moonraker
except if it's on the TV and then I'd probably drift in and out with interest.
As I've grown to love the less SiFi more realistic adventures. So have other
Members changed their tastes either coming to love the over the top stories
or do you still love the Bonds you always did ?

Moonraker is on my List of most watched Bonds. With TND and TWINE being on the opposite.

I must of watched Moonraker at least ten times at the cinema ( still have
the old ticket Stubbs ) :)) , even had the clothes Bond wore in the PTS.
Double breasted navy jacket, polo neck sweater etc, ( I was 15, and must
    have looked like a dork :)) )
Now I find it a bit long, with Bond never in any real peril.

I still love all the Bond films, regardless who is Bond, but I was thinking of a reply to your question , and have come to the conclusion that all my fave Bond films are the ones that (the country that they are set in I have visited)
so in a sub conscious manner ,they are the ones that bring a smile to my face, so cant wait to see
if the next Bond has been filmed where I have previously been :)
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

Have a fondness for CR and QOS :D , a bit like Kent today. ;)

1979 was a happy time for me. 1985 not so. These reasons contribute to my liking of MOONRAKER over A VIEW TO A KILL, even though they're as daft as one another. I do feel however that MOONRAKER is the better crafted film.

My tastes have changed in so far as I like less action scenes now. I loved TOMORROW NEVER DIES when I first saw it, but find it overly frenetic now. I'd rather have three terrific action scenes spread over two hours than half a dozen middling ones.

TP, I would almost bet money on this:

Watch MR on a TV larger than 50 inches and you'll love it!
IMO no other Bond suffers more from being watched on small TV screens than MR.

And most of the MR bashers did not see the movie ever in a cinema ;)

I saw MR at the cinema 13 times on the week of release :D must have board the hell out of my mates as none of them are Bond fans.

I still have a soft spot for Rog, but must admit I hardly ever watch a Bond film now, I even fall asleep in the crew screenings now :D

    ask Sir Miles :))

Bondtoys, I'm a big fan of the cinematography in Moonraker, it does look
Fantastic, and I'm not knocking it. I'm just making the point there was a time
When it would have been my most watched Bond, now either because I'm
a little older ( not much just a little ) I would now watch perhaps ( keeping
it Roger ) FYEO, or LALD instead.
Danjaq off, whatever you and Sir Miles do in a screening room, is your
    Business. :)) :)) , I just hope he respects you ........ In the morning. :p :))
Perhaps many of us have past the point of needing to watch an entire film
As we know them so well. :))

Well I have only seen SF twice, once at the screening and once on DVD :D and the screening i was true to form and in and out of conscience by the time he was in the casino :))

QOS I was off just as he was running through the tunnels :))

Well, my point is that your opinion re. MR has changed because of viewings on small TV screens and not so much of a taste change in your high age :D

    Sadly,
As I've recently bought a new satellite system for the living room ( for the HD channels )
And a new free view HD recorder thing for the bedroom, the wife's getting suspicious
so I have to put off the TV upgrade for a while, but I'm not going silly, I'd say a good
48 inches should give me immense satisfaction. ;)

;) when Mrs Thunderpussy was just a girlfriend she'd put up with the odd
Bond film, pretending to be interested, but quickly the eyes started to roll
My directors commentary lost its fun factor for her.
So now like many, I watch them " All by myself ........ " # :))

    No 48 inch, I'll try for 47, such a disappointment, ;)

My tastes haven't changed much at all. The Connery Bonds are still my favorites and I actually started to lose some of my fervor for Bond during the Roger Moore era. However, my enthusiasm was rekindled when the Dalton films were released and it hasn't flagged again since then.

I originally watched the Brozza films only. I eventually opened my mind and watched all of them. My favourite Bond is now Connery.
