Bond songs revisited

Had a CD in my car which had "You Know My Name" and was completely blown away by it!

What a phantastic song - even after so long time!! {[] {[] {[]
Has some Barry elements but still totally different and cool.
Stayed in the car until the song ended!

Did this happen to anyone else?

    Prob one of the better ones of recent Bond films and poss high on the all time Bond list. I like how it is based on / incorporates the main Arnold CR theme which is of course repeatedly used throughout the film. In majority (not all) of other Bond films the songs of course are generally heard for the PTS only, therefore with this one you get that CR vibe from it immensely. Cornell of course is a superb vocalist and the song starts off with a bang and ends with him screaming his head off dramatically showing his great vocals. Great stuff, I hear he played it live a heck of a lot but never bothered to youtube it.

    What I love about LALD is the piano intro.

    It sits you down in a second and tells you that some serious good stuff is coming now!

    FYEO and TLD, there is something about those two Themes that really back up Bond in the 80's.

    I totally agree. I was pretty neutral about "You Know My Name" when I first saw Casino Royale in the theater - I didn't love it nor hate it. But it has grown on me quite a bit since then, and it's one of my favorite Bond themes to blast in the car as I'm driving through my staid, quiet neighborhood. Alas, my neighbors don't quite appreciate the song as much as I do, but man what a great theme! {[]

    I also love David Arnold's take on Diamonds are Forever on his " Shaken not trirred" cd. -{
    Fantastic Orchestration all through that album. :)

    That is a great CD. I really like Martin Fry's version of Thunderball!

    I love Arnold's orchestration -{ and his use of horns and strings. Very
    Much in the J Barry style. {[] I don't think he'll be back for Bond24, but
    Damn I wish he was. -{

    Agree re David Arnold's "Shaken Not Stirred" album - the Propellerheads' version of OHMSS is stunning too.

    Is it too much to hope he will be back for Bond 24?

    Sadly, it would appear so. Newman again is most likely. :(

    In a recent interview D Arnold said that Mendes is known for using T Newman
    for his film scores. So sadly I don't think he'll be doing the score for the next
    Bond, but I do hope I'm wrong.

    I am not too upset I think the score for skyfall is mint......best for years.

    Don't get me wrong I thought the score to Skyfall was terrific -{
    But I also miss the "Barryesque " sound that D Arnold can give. :D

    Watched an old recording last night from December 1997 of David Arnold producing the 'Shaken and Stirred' album, and it featured Martin Fry, Jarvis Cocker, Iggy Pop, David McAlmont, Propellerheads, also showed some recording sequences from 'TND'.
    Plus comments from various other's like John Barry, George Martin.

    Absolutely! TLD in particular is terrific 80s Bond!
