I was watching one of the star wars films the other night ,and thought to myself the pistols used
seem like that they started life as Mauser Bolos, and the Sterling sub-machine gun was used as the donor for the storm troopers
ray gun ,can any one throw any light on this for me :)
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

    Yeah, you are right. They put T track through the heat shield and cut the mags right down to make them look futuristic. Most of the guns in the original trilogy and even the prequels are real guns dressed up with greeblies. Han Solo had a Mauser. Obi wans lightsaber was made with tap parts, a grenade and some jet fighter parts, while Luke/Vaders were old flash gun bodies with T-track glued to the lower half. The original trilogy props were mostly found parts cobbled together.

    If you really look at the gadgets and weapons used in the original trilogy, you'll recognise many guns and daily objects. Even in the prequel films you'll see everyday objects used...

    It reminded me watching a doc on Thunderbirds ( The old TV show ) that in the hanger for
    TB1, on the wall to fill space is an "Orange, Juicer" , :))

    my dad made the piano in the PG tips advert with the chimps ",Dad do you know the pianos on my foot " true story :))
    it didn't work by the way chimps cant play the piano :D

    Oh dear, only half a point for that one Pussy! You are quite right about Thunderbitd 1's juice up before take off, you can see the pointy dome structure of the juicer behind TB1 after she reaches the bottom of the decent Incline and moves towards the launch point beneath the swimming pool silo hatch. Further study of Thunderbird 2's flight deck or Thunderbird 5's comunications panels reveal cooker knobs, toothpaste caps and a number of light meter and sound equipment dials.

    However McCoys medical tools were solid machined metal pieces. The salt cellar bit is an urban legend, started from a rumour based on the basic shape of the props.

    :)) Still those special effects/model guys have to be very inventive, the budget for models
    was probably about £32.75, for the series. :D

    Of course the Ewoks are real! I had a pet one as a kid. This was just a rare case where you were right. - it's just the facts were left! :D :s

    AS mentioning his Dad making the Chimps PG Piano (very cool by the way AS) and the hair dryer ship reminds me of Galloping Galaxies from the early 80's.

    Set aboard the SS Voyager Commanded by Captain Pettifer (sorry Capt Janeway!) It featured SID, the ships computer voiced by Kenneth Williams. In typical BBC fashion, he was blinking Christmas lights beneath a pair of ping pong ball eyes! Classic stuff!

    Remember reading for " The Incredible Shrinking Man " to show
    Raindrops on a Micro scale, they bought up hundreds and hundreds
    Of condoms, which when filled with water, would look like rain drops :D
    They say a studio accountant wanted to know what all the condoms
    Were for, to get the reply that they were for the wrap party. :D
    For singing in the rain ( because rain doesn't record well on film ) the
    Rain water was mixed with milk, to look better on screen. That stage must
    Have smelled rotten after a shoot. ;)
