Screenshot Software?

Dear Colleagues,
What is the best software to use to freeze and print or JPEG screenshots from DVD or Blue Ray?
I want to use this as a research tool for various projects.
Thanks!
GG

If you are having a Mac, take a screenshot with "Shift"+"cmd"+"4"

Then you can edit the image with iphoto or photoshop. That's at least how I am doing it :D
Blurays can be ripped with Make MKV and then saved with Handbrake

Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but if you are using WINDOWS and screen grabbing DVDs, no problem alt+Print Screen (PrtScn) works just fine BUT if you are trying to grab a BluRay screen then be ready for a world of pain. The screen grab function is disabled on BluRay play back in almost all s/w players due to copyright issues. The only way Ive found to do it is to rip the BluRay disc to another file format (Easy with the right software, I use either WINX or DVDFAB) eg mp4 at high quality and then you can screen grab normally as these rippers strip out any copy protection.

Happy to be proved wrong on this by any Windows gurus out there but that's my experience. Luckily I've ripped my whole collection to Hard Disk (Over 650 movies and only have 3 that the above software has failed on).

Don't have experience on Macs so can't comment.

Wow! Sounds a bit complicated. My PC is a Vario vintage 2010. Wont play Bluray, so I suppose I need an external drive. Used to have WINNDVD software years ago, seemed to work very well, although I just watched OHMSS on Bluray and couldn't believe how clear it was!
If I go to the computer store, and ask for help, and purchase some great screenshot software, am I still up against bluray not letting me grab anything due to the copyright??
    Thanks

Tom, the chances are that somewhere like BestBuy won't sell ripping software as it is inevitably linked with piracy, but you're right in that you would need an external BD drive to play BluRays in the first place. DVDFAB BluRay ripper is available online and I find it very good.
