I wouldn't be so sure about the jacket being used in the movie, at least not until the shooting starts The jacket may be the perfect choice for Bond in some extreme winter conditions, I don't imagine him wearing a North Face jacket or even one from Moncler.
I was wearing DC's TF Harrington in the video on The Bond Experience. The guy from The Propstore was almost catatonic that it wasn't behind bullet proof glass!
On the subject of the new bomber jacket, I didn't think that the zip was on a slant, but the pic that I uploaded does make it appear that way. For me it was one of the most impressive thing about the jacket- the oversized zip itself. Here is another pic that shows the zip on less of a slant:
I think it looks better in Blair's pictures than the ones posted earlier, but the styling still doesn't do much for me. The pocket webbing is very large, and I've never liked the type of pockets where you have that arrow shaped reinforcements; not on denim jackets, peacoats, nor this one. It just doesn't "sing" to me like the TF Harrington or the BR peacoat. My opinion on the jacket may rise depending on how it looks without the collar. I'm sure Sam Mendes will make it look good, but having a jacket with a possible slant zipper and the pull on the left seems troublesome.
Blair, a bit off topic, but were you wearing your TF Harrington in the Bond Experience video or a replica?
Ross, interesting you are looking into a replica already. I would have thought it would fall into what Dan Love might do next.
My usual contacts have "moved on", but Maria, who was looking after some alterations, did say that she remembered hearing about the Bond connection when I mentioned it, but she sounded far from conclusive.

Well Dan's not called it yet I liked the look of the jacket when first shown so I made some enquiries with the manufacturer who it making the Casino Royale jacket for me and they said they could do it no problem.
I am well aware not everyone can afford to spend 3000 on a jacket, so would be interested in getting the look for less. I am in no way knocking Dan's jackets as I have both his harrington and his Haiti jacket and think they are great.
Blair, what's the outer material on the coat? In some of your photos it looks like there's a weave in there, so I'm guessing like a wool?
I went into Zara to check out the alternative posted in an earlier thread. It's made of polyester, a sort of faux sheepskin in look and feel, with the faux fur inner lining like the collar.
Different colour to the TF one, a shade of grey (the photo in the earlier link is actually spot on to how the colour is in the flesh). I thought it was quite nice and only £89 so bought one on approval - ie if the wife likes it!
£3500 for a coat is not going to happen, whether I win the lottery or not!
Japanese proverb say, "Bird never make nest in bare tree".
Yeah, I think that it's woven wool. I'm going back on Monday, so I can check the labels etc. David, do you have any details of any other pieces of kit that I can check out at TF next week, so that I can take a few more pics?

That's right, you have a Harrington from the production. No wonder Mantis shakes his fist at you, Blair. ) Did the rep from the Propstore hazard a guess as to what it would go for at auction?
Matt, I couldn't resist the Tom Ford quip. Holden gave me a perfect set up. I do like some of the pieces quite a lot (the Harrington, the tuxes, etc). Just seems that many of the items are way too much, even compared to the usual outrageous designer mark-ups.
After all the coverage of this coat in this thread, I hope it actually appears on screen.
I'm looking forward to set/location photos leaking so items can be identified before the film is released and the items are out of production.
Blair and gang, I will be receiving a manifest within the next few weeks....stay tuned. Right now it's all speculation....hoping in Dec we start seeing behind the scenes shots and then we can match them to manifest...then the fun begins...Keep in mind that a LOT went over, but that doesn't guarantee that it's going to be used.

Holden did indeed give you the perfect set-up, and I agree. I can't speak for the casual wear, but the suits are some of the highest quality designer suits I've ever seen. The quality is on the level of non-designer labels like Brioni and Kiton. Still, for those prices, any suit that's not made for you is too expensive. Tom Ford takes pride in the level of quality in his clothes, since he created his menswear line for himself because nothing else available was good enough for him.
Had to choose European L, usually I'm an M, but I was just to tight around the chest when trying to close the zipper. If worn like on the Mango page M would have been ok.
Hi, would you mind sharing your normal chest size, height and weight? I usually take a medium and ordered this from Mango in a medium - hope it fits, as I do want to be able to zip it up.

Sure it will be fine... I am a 16 / 41 in TF and a large in most ( BR and Barbour). I ordered a L and XL just in case. XL went back. L gives me a nice fitted look with a shirt and merino jumper beneath. Quality jacket and an absolute steal....
Hi, I don't know my exact measurements, to be honest. But what I can say is that for example the Barbour and the Billy Read fit quite well in size M, with the Barbour being tight but ok. The Mango however was just to tight for me in size European M around the chest.
I'll try to get my chest measured the next time :-)
I popped back to Tom Ford this morning, and took a few photos of the jacket without the shearling collar on:
And also went into Mango to check out their version, which, I must say, for £59.99 is an absolute steal:
For the record, the Mango jacket was a size medium, and fitted well. I'm normally a 48 in Tom Ford, a medium in the Barbour, and a medium in the Levi's Menlo.
Wasn't the Mango always black and not navy? And just looks navy in the one model pic.
The black still shows up on the US site.
So it does. Thanks 77007. And it is black. My mistake.
I do prefer the Tom Ford jacket without the collar. Obviously a much nicer fabric than the Mango. I'd like the TF one better with different pockets. Give it the Mango style pockets and we'd have a winner.
Blair, thanks for the extra pictures. Going by your last photo, the Mango UK medium is a US small? This will up the confusion on sizing for purchasers in the US.
One further little nugget for suit buffs- Daniel Craig will be back in O'Connor suits. But with peak not notch lapels. I hope that makes sense- I have no idea what that means...
Oh no, if it's peak lapels on single breasted jackets that aren't a dinner jacket.......then things got a whole lot worse. Other than evening wear, peak lapels should be reserved for double breasted jackets only IMO.

So he'll be dressed like Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) in Suits? I like SB suits with peak lapels, but the TF lapels have gotten a bit wide for my eye the last year or two. I hope the suits aren't as tight as Skyfall.

It means the lapels look like this:
notch looks better and more something Bond would wear I think.

The definition of Tom Ford.
Unlike most fashion brands, Tom Ford sells some of the very best quality ready-to-wear suits. But one should go bespoke at that price.
