Cheers Colleagues,
Any ideas on GL's OHMSS Portugal loafers?
I'm ordering a cream suit from Indy, and need help/advice on where to start for the loafers.
If anyone has a clearer, better screenshot, I would be much obliged...
Thank you!
Saw these Gucci loafers on Ebay. This may do, for a start?

I think Clark Griswold might have a pair you can have.

To make a conservative guess about the wardrobe selected for OHMSS (an attempt to duplicate what was done for Connery), I would go British, maybe driving moccasins by John Lobb? But then again, I wouldn't know if there is a currently available equivalent from that brand, but I would still go down the route of a British moccasin.

People back then only wore driving moccasins for driving. They fall apart really quickly for walking. Lazenby's shoes actually have a monk strap, though they have a lower vamp like slip-ons have.

Thanks, Matt. I'm not a shoe expert and it's good to know those details, esp. when attempting to identify particular items used on screen. I made a guess about driving shoes because Bond had just arrived at his hotel in that scene and considered that the wardrobe person might have accounted for that.

Learning about clothes certainly helped me to identify many of Bond's items. If Bond did wear driving shoes he would have left them in the car. I'm not sure when people started wearing them as non-driving footwear. Plus, they're much too casual to wear with a suit.

Good to know, I was not aware of those things, either!

Update: Tried Ferragamo, Lobb, Gucci, and hundreds of online sites...and no joy yet. Any further info would be appreciated.

Your best bet would be a time machine to 1969. I found this shoe, which is similar in style but cheap and terrible quality:

    Thank you dear friends,
Came across what I think would be the ideal style. From an English maker, Foster. Kind of a nice Lazenby tie-in with the name of Foster, not only for the bespoke shirts, but the ale as well.
Here is a link to the shoe: http://foster.co.uk/our-products/ready-to-wear/casual-shoes/chichester/

GBP675 for bespoke colour. Have to sell parts off the Aston to pay that price. What the hell, they are falling off the car anyway...

Another winner may be Loake's McDowell offering. Haven't heard back from them yet on a bespoke colour:

Another possibility is the Cheaney Monk. May be difficult to purchase, as they go through retail stores only. May take ages to get.

Please let me know your thoughts.
    Cheers,

From what I can see the cream shoes are the same style as the brown suede shoes, which we get a much better look at:

    http://thesuitsofjamesbond.com/?p=95

Those shoes are like slip-ons with a monk strap. They aren't monk shoes. They have a lower vamp than monk shoes you found have The tongue is outside the quarters rather than inside, like on a typical monk or derby shoe. The closest shoe I could find is the Cleverley Ashford: http://www.gjcleverley.co.uk/our-shoes/bespoke-range

And here are two screenshots of the cream shoes:

You can see they look more like loafers than monk shoes, even though they have a monk strap with a buckle.

    Yes, those were mine!
Just received them, and the suit is following soon.
    The fit is absolutely perfect.
Indy is so easy to work with. Just do some research and he will make it happen.
Matt Spaiser also is a great resource, and helped out quite a bit with details. Andy also assisted with some screen shots.
I must say, my brethren on this site have been very, very helpful in many projects.
I would not have found the OHMSS Nighthawk glasses, nor the Gucci suitcase, or atlas if it were not for my fellow collectors here on AJB.
Ps really hooked on Cheaney shoes now, bought their William 2 Monk Strap loafers in black, very close to Lazenby's city shoes in OHMSS. Very good fit, and very, very high quality.
    Cheers,
    Tom
