    Great thread. Not sure why I didn't start this a few years back.

    I read them all, in the order they were released - usually by the pool or on a beach while on holidays. I thoroughly enjoyed them, especially the subtle references to adult Bond, especially when they were there so only hardened fans would notice! One such example is when Bond passes by a business called Universal Exports. Fab. (Hope this isn't a plot spoiler!)

    Anyway, my only criticism is how can a 14yo school boy get into so many adventures all alone? My parents wouldn't let me travel abroad alone until I was 18, and still they worry. Anyway, I can wholeheartedly recommend these books. I loved them, and I can't wait for the next book, "Shoot to Kill" which should be out in the autumn.

    Merry Christmas everyone. So I was lucky enough to dine Shoot To Kill in my stocking yesterday and will start reading it when my head clears. We are off to Barcelona tomorrow, so will try to get through the bulk of the novel before the New Year. What do other fans think of it?

    I really enjoyed it. I thought Steve Cole approached it differently to Higson. But it did it credit to him to find his own voice instead of just trying to copy the writer before him. I was impressed how much background research he did to the era. It showed he was really passionate about Bond. And was not just in it for the money.
    I got the impression Bond very much aged between Royal Command and Shoot to Kill. To me, I pictured a sixteen year old, world-weary and daring but also caring and thoughtful. Did anyone else pick up the subtle reference to the James Bond theme that Cole put in there?
    Defintite Fleming vibe in there. -{
    Four Stars.
    What did you think?
