Is Craig an "Autistic" Bond?

    My take on this is the difference in acting methods from then to now. I think never more than now there's a realistic approach that's good because...it's realistic, but sometimes annoying when actors mumble their lines as they would in real life, but not for the benefit of the viewers. Bond acting from Connery to Brosnan was done in the clasical style, in which they emoted everything, perhaps even copying the facial expressions drawn for them on the story boards! On the other hand, to describe a "highly functioning autistic" in the realm of the older movies, what come to mind are the psychotic killers like Grant and Janni when they are in stalking mode, so maybe that's what they had in mind with Craig in the recent entries, e.g., the blunt instrument he is supposed to be.

    I think D Craig will go down as one of the best Bonds ever. -{
    I have to disagree there. I personally cannot watch a Daniel Craig bond film. When he was cast i thought who? And now i think why? I know i am the only one to think this but i have reasons.

    No, your not on your own. Many still don't like his portrayal of 007.
    I only ever had a problem with QOS, but with many viewings. I've come
    To think it's much better than I first did. -{
    Still it is hard when you don't really like the actor playing Bond, as I've
    Learnt from listening to Blackleiter who had to sit through seven Roger
    Moore Bond films. :))
    I'm a believer in that we get the right Bond for the right era and do think
    That each actor has had a hand in the success of the series.
    Connery, blazed across the screen as a force of nature
    Moore, kept the series going ( after Connery they were big shoes to fill )
    Dalton, brought a renewed realism.
    Brosnan, helped revive the series
    Craig, a contemporary interpretation of the 50s Fleming character.

    I thought there was plenty of comedy and Realism in Skyfall. ;)
    Like Connery, Craig suits the "dark" humour or barbs, a comedy line
    With a cruel twist. :D

    Far from the only one. I'm waiting patiently for the next actor.

    I agree. Maybe I mentioned this before, but Craig reminds me of someone with PTSD. He has a hard-time relating to others and seems kind of lost in his own world. Not very responsive or emotive, especially compared to the wide range of expressions of Connery & Moore.

    Is there nothing of Craig's portrayal of Bond that you like ? I've always managed to enjoy something of each actors portrayal...there are always parts I enjoy from the films that don't quite cut it for me....I know you are a very big fan of Another Way To Die, so you MUST enjoy some aspects... :D

    :D yeah, that song.... :s

    Of course there are parts of DC's Bond that I like- he's excellent in the action sequences, for example.

    I also think Craig can express emotion very well.
    The death of M
    His by play with Moneypenny
    His falling in love with Vesper
    Showing his dislike of Greene etc ..... :D

    Also AWTD, sounds better while driving. ;)

    What an interesting question! It's not just Craig who is autistic; it's the writing. I think he lost much of what he had gained with audiences after they had time to think about SKYFALL. Showing Bond's efforts as futile and showing him as a failure was not good for the series. There's no recovering from the damage he's done.

    You're not the only one. I can't stand Craig, either, nor his so-called "modern interpretation" which is nothing of the kind.

    I'm afraid you'll have a long wait for the next actor. Craig will do two more films in the next 6-8 years. That means he will have made less Bond films over a longer period of time than either Connery or Moore. The deconstruction of the character has been so thorough the producers will no doubt depart from the original concept even further. Don't expect the next "James Bond" to be something you'd recognize as James Bond from previous films.
    The top 7 Bond films: 1) Dr No. 2) From Russia With Love. 3) Thunderball. 4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service. 5) For Your Eyes Only. 6) The Living Daylights. 7) Licence to Kill.

    I'm sure Craig will do two more as well, and I hope it's quicker. The sooner Craig finishes his disparagement of James Bond, the better.

    In every generation there will always be a group of actors who would
    Suit playing Bond, after that I guess it's all down to luck and being

    Daniel Craig reminds me of Red Grant. It's unfortunate FRWL felt the need to make Grant a "homicidal maniac" when he is simply a professional doing his job. (Just like Bond)

    " Grant's one of our best men. Homicidal paranoiac, superb material. His response to our training and indoctrination have been remarkable "

    In the novel he's controlled by the moon with a need to kill. So I think they
    Did the right thing by keeping him in the mold Fleming had created. -{

    On a side note in the Book Grant was Born not too far from where I live,and
    I can tell you we have a huge supply of homicidal maniacs over here. :))
