In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

They are going to be planting poppies up until Armistice Day and they are being sold off for £25 each and the proceeds being spread across service charities ...
Only one part of the peace treaty after WWI still in effect - the status of Spitzbergen/Svalbard.
so I will light my candle in the garden tonight, in memory of all (both sides ) who lost their lives in this bloody part of
our history
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
General Sherman:
I confess without shame that I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine.
It is only those who have neither heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded,
who cry aloud for more blood, more vengeance, more desolation. War is Hell !

But most territorial disputes of the ME can be traced to the end of WWI.
