Hi guys, sorry if this has already been covered in another jacket thread, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this (or a similar) website:

http://www.makeyourownjeans.com/leather-jackets/celebrity-leather-jackets/daniel-craig-skyfall-leather-jacket

Hard to believe you can get a custom made leather jacket for that price, but maybe I'm not seeing something? 8-)

    This company is located in India. That would explain the price. they accept paypal so if there is a problem paypal should be able to get your money back to you.
    I have to say, they've got me on the hook, but i'll wait for more intel before I put in an order.
    Good Find!

    The dimensions are clearly off between the length of the body and the sleeves and some details are inaccurate. Also, the distressing seems like a pattern "painted" onto the leather.

    I can believe that a company can have a jacket made for that price and even that it's leather, I just don't think that it would look very good.

    IIRC, a couple of members here got replica jackets from a place called Boutique England for about $200 and they were impressed by the quality. They certainly looked quite good in the pictures.

    Yeah one of the first things I noticed was how long the body was compared to the sleeves on the Make Your Own Jeans Version. This must be the Boutique England version you mean:

    Already looks a lot better! The leather isn't "distressed" but I imagine a trip to a remote beach pretending to be dead would do that anyway :D

    Anyone have any pics of this jacket?

    EDIT: And then there's this one on the dreaded Bay...looks thicker?

    Can't beat the quality of the Wested Leather one...

    Does anyone have any feedback on the Boutique England or EBay ones?

    There are a few variants out there and the prices are attractive, but it's always difficult to tell from the photos as to whether they would look ropey or not...

    Have to agree with the comment about Wested ............they're just down the road from me, and I've actually seen their products in their store/factory , first hand, and tried them on . Really high-quality , made on site , and customised if needed. I have an original Menlo , but nearly bought one of these too .

    That Wested jacket looks gorgeous. The only caveat I can see is that "The jacket comes up slightly large". I'm a size 36 chest on a good day, so the fact that the Wested Jacket is for size 38-40 and the Boutique England one is just for 38 is a factor I might need to consider...

    I have seen that jacket before, I dont think its dark enough to emulate the Venlo and the venlo has worn look about it. I would have more of a browse through vintage leather jackets on ebay within the auction rather than buy now and you may find something closer to the venlo than this. -{

    I have both the Menlo and the Westead. The Menlo is really lightweight and great for summer wear, the Westead is a lot heavier and def a winter jacket. The upside of the Westead is that they're bespoke and you will get a perfect fit and the quality is top notch, the downside is that it's new leather and any distressing needs to be done by the buyer. I don't normally do the clothes thing but I do love leather jackets. The other down side of Westead is that the other half has discovered them and now wants all manner of things custom made :#

    I'd avoid the Indian factory site, as someone else here bought one of those jackets and it was horrible.

    The Boutique England one I think is pretty much a 1:1 copy of the LVC Menlo, sized slightly different (a bit more fitted). The other best option is the Wested.

    Magnoli makes a version but the details are off on his version with the collar/collar stand construction and the position of the cuff adjusters.

    Sorry to revive a dead topic, but I'm finally pulling the trigger on one of these replicas, and I wanted to get your expert opinions on this one from the bay?

    Any experience with this seller/how does it compare to the original? I was going to go for the Boutique England one but the leather looks better on this one.

    Of those two, the Boutique England jacket is more accurate (The back of the sleeve is 2 pieces as shown below) Also, the BE jacket is stated to be lambskin which is likely softer than the other which I believe is unspecified.

    All that being said while the ebay seller has 100% satisfaction and yes it is cheaper, I agree with the comments above the Wested is much more accurate and the leather is also Lamb with a much better representation of the original in terms of colour and texture without being distressed to the extreme.

    Hope that helps...

    Thanks SilverFinger! I'm a fan of your work. However, it looks like the back sleeves of the eBay jacket are in two pieces as well? The BE one may have lambskin, but I can't stand the awful crinkled effect :s

    Right you are, must be the lighting at a glance I didn't see the seam, but it is there. I still think its worth the extra to go for the Wested, spoilt for choice with this particular replica though, everyone seems to have tried it, well not me of course ;)

    Ohhh and thanks :D

    I finally decided on going for the riskiest choice - the dreaded eBay option! However, after getting them to make one for my custom measurements at no extra cost, I have to say I am very pleased with the result - especially for £99.

    I'm not what I'd call an expert, but it seems like all the details and embellishments on this replica are spot on. I hope to get many happy years of Enjoying Death out of it! Thanks to all for your advice and opinions -{

    The leather looks quite good, and slightly thicker than the pics I've seen of the Boutique England version. However, members who have the Boutique England jacket could give a better opinion.

    I actually really like the jacket in non-distressed leather and had thought about getting one. The only thing that would hold me back from this one is the the BE one looks like a much darker brown in the pics that members posted here. Do you feel this picture captures the colour of yours accurately?

    How did you go getting them to make it to custom size? We're they helpful. Was the fit good?

    To answer everyone's questions, I'd say the colour in the photos is accurate, except they it is less red in real life. I personally love the jacket in a non-distressed leather, so that I can age it myself over the years. The leather feels like butter to my hands, haha.

    I simply asked them if they could make me an XS jacket, and they instead just asked for my measurements. It cost nothing extra, but took a week longer to ship it out. They were very helpful. The fit is incredible, but if I could think of one thing to complain about, it would be that the sleeves run a little roomy for my skinny arms :p

    This is a very nice jacket, and it fits you very well indeed. But I'm afraid it just doesn't do a good job in channel the look of the original Menlo. What makes the Menlo so distinctive is it's heavily distressed look, and the inverted triangle fit (broad shoulder, narrow waist, short cut) This jacket, whilst sharing all the details, bears little resemblance to the original. Still it is a quality garment, and fits you well, for a damn good price.
