edited September 2014 in The James Bond Films
Well, I figured my first post here should be something worthwhile.... so I present what I deem to be the absolute, most inclusive guide to Bond films *ever* - including many, many that you may have never heard of. Enjoy. :)

1958- LATITUDE 78 WEST
1960 [aka JAMES BOND, SECRET AGENT]
starring ?
Origin: England
Written by Ian Fleming, Kevin McClory and Jack Whittingham; later adapted into the
"Thunderball" novel, which prompted decades of legal action from McClory.

1977- WARHEAD
1979 [aka JAMES BOND OF THE SECRET SERVICE]
starring Sean Connery
Origin: England
Wouldn't have been an EON production, but rather, a Kevin McClory-helmed "Thunderball"
remake released by Paramount Pictures. Legal issues eventually killed this project, though it
would later evolve into "Never Say Never Again."

06/1991? THE PROPERTY OF A LADY [title?]
starring Timothy Dalton
Origin: England
Cancelled due to legal issues surrounding EON at the time. Most likely, the Fleming-sourced
title will be reused in the future.

1996- WARHEAD 2000 A.D.
1999 starring Liam Neeson?
Origin: England
Another proposed "Thunderball" remake from Kevin McClory, to be released by Sony Pictures.
Again, several years of legal issues between McClory and EON prevented this production from
occurring.

IIb: Lost Bond Films - Hoaxes

??/1956 MOONRAKER
[aka HELL IS HERE]
starring Dirk Bogarde
Origin: United States
Allegedly an unfinished film directed by Orson Welles, who also appeared as Drax. Despite
the emergence of realistic screencaps and promotional artwork, this was merely an elaborate
hoax by online fan Simon Bermuda.

01/2000 A PEPPER FOR TOMORROW
starring Jerry Soules
Origin: United States
The subject of the unreleased mockumentary, "Project Bond." The allegedly forthcoming
release of "Pepper" was perpetrated as an Internet hoax throughout 1999.

03/1977 THE DRAGON LIVES AGAIN
[aka THE DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG-FU]

starring Jaroslav Sypal
Origin: Czech Republic

11/2003 LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION
featuring Timothy Dalton
Origin: United States
Dalton portrays Damian Drake, an English spy clearly intended as a renamed James Bond.

IVa: Bond Without Bond - Related Films

03/1964 HOT ENOUGH FOR JUNE
[aka AGENT 8 3/4]
starring Dirk Bogarde
Origin: England
Concerns the agent who replaces now-deceased James Bond.

07/1966 KALEIDOSCOPE
starring Warren Beatty
Origin: England
A Bond-less, unauthorized adaptation of Fleming's Casino Royale.

09/1966 KISS THE GIRLS AND MAKE THEM DIE
[aka IF ALL THE WOMEN IN THE WORLD]
(SE TUTTE LE DONNE DEL MONDO)
starring Mike Connors
Origin: Italy
This is primarily a spoof of Sixties spy films, but earns a spot on this list, as it was largely
adapted into "Moonraker."

??/1966 VALLAVAN ORUVAN [trans?]
starring Jaishankar
Origin: India
Not a Bond film, but rather, a plagiarism of "Dr. No" and "From Russia With Love" with a
Bond-like character. (Other portions of the film rip off the French spy film "Banque a Bangkok
pour OSS 117.")

??/1966 MONEY-COLLECTING AGENT 007
(EISPRAKTOR 007)
starring Nikos Stavridis
Origin: Greece
Outside of the title, the connection to Bond is unknown; the character himself doesn't seem
to appear.

04/1967 OPERATION KID BROTHER
[aka OPERATION DOUBLE 007 and OK CONNERY]
starring Neil Connery
Origin: Italy
Centers around Bond's look-alike brother. Bernard Lee, Lois Maxwell, Adolfo Celi, and
Daniela Bianchi also appear.

03/1968 BONDITIS
starring Gerd Baltus
Origins: Switzerland / West Germany
Concerns a man who merely thinks he is James Bond.

12/1975 FROM HONG KONG WITH LOVE
(BONS BAISERS DE HONG KONG)
featuring Jean Mersant?
Origin: France
Bond (who seems to be played by Jean Mersant - see "Our Man From Bond Street" below)
is actually killed during the gunbarrel sequence; Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell recruit
a musical group called Les Charlots in his place. Clifton James also appears.

06/1981 THE CANNONBALL RUN
featuring Roger Moore
Origin: United States
Obviously not a Bond film, but Roger Moore appears as a man who believes himself to be
Roger Moore's Bond.

09/1981 SHUT UP WHEN YOU SPEAK!
(TAIS-TOI QUAND TU PARLES!)
starring Aldo Maccione
Origins: France / Italy
Concerns a man named Giacomo (Italian for 'James') who dreams he is James Bond.

01/1984 OUR MAN FROM BOND STREET
(ZUIJIA PAIDANG ZHI NUHUANG MILING)
featuring Jean Mersant
Origin: Hong Kong
Part of the "Aces Go Places" (or "Mad Mission") series. The villain is a jewel thief who poses
as James Bond. Oddjob (not played by Harold Sakata) appears, as does Richard Kiel.
[NOTE: Some online sources claim that the Bond lookalike is portrayed by Neil Connery; this
is untrue.]

??/1997 LOS DESMADRES DE JAIMES BOND
[aka SUPER AGENTE BOTONES]
starring Rafael Inclan
Origin: Mexico
Another film where, title aside, the connection to Bond is unknown. The titles don't seem to
have ever been translated, though they appear to be "The Excesses of James Bond" and
"Super Agent Bellboy."

(UCCIDETE AGENTE SEGRETO 777 - STOP)
starring Ken Clark
Origins: France / Italy / Spain
First released in France, with the character referred to as 'FX 18.' The Italian edition
rebranded him '777,' to make the Bond connection more obvious. The next Coplan
movie would not be renamed to cash in on Bond. Incidentally, Ken Clark would go on to
play Dick Malloy 077.

10/1965 AGENT 777 MISSION SUMMERGAME
[aka COPLAN FX 18 CASSE TOUT]
starring Richard Wyler
Origins: France / Italy
The third Coplan film. One unidentified country seems to have taken the renaming scheme
one step further by calling the character '077.' (Incidentally, none of the future Coplan
productions would be altered anywhere to reflect the '777' number.) As with Ken Clark,
Wyler would later play another Bond-a-like agent, Dick Smart 2.007.

MIKE MURPHY, AGENT 077
[aka MARC MATO, LEMMY LOGAN and ROBBY LOGAN]

08/1965 ESPIONAGE IN TANGIERS
(MARC MATO, AGENTE S. 077)
starring Luis Davila
Origins: Spain / Italy
It is often said that George Lazenby has a small role in the 92 minute cut of this film; this
seems to be untrue.

08/1966 YPOTRON - FINAL COUNTDOWN
(AGENTE LOGAN - MISSIONE YPOTRON)
starring Luis Davila
Origins: Spain / Italy
Agent 077's name was changed here for reasons unknown - different editions called him

Be sure to stick around.... almost certain the version on my home PC not only adds a number of other films, but an entire new section documenting planned but cancelled Bond films. :)

Okay, I dug up the more complete version!

Compared to the first one I posted, this one has sections for cancelled Bond films and 'lost' Bond films that turned out to be hoaxes; as well as entries for "The Rock", "Looney Tunes: Back In Action", "The Return Of The Man From UNCLE", an obscure film called "The Excesses Of James Bond", "James Band 007", and yet another copycat known as Agent 777.
  • TheLazenbyTheLazenby Posts: 37MI6 Agent
A special mention should also go to the 'spiritual prequel' to "Casino Royale" - the 1965 spoof "Where The Spies Are" starring David Niven as Bond knock-off Dr. Love, and a screenplay by the same folks who wrote CR.

    Sadly, not available on DVD!!

And wouldn't you know it.... the very first person you see in "Where The Spies Are", the earlier Bond spoof starring David Niven, directed by Val Guest and written by Wolf Mankowicz, is Geoffrey Bayldon - Q from "Casino Royale"! :-D

Incidentally, that "Casino Royale" knockoff "Kaleidoscope"? The opening titles are by Maurice Binder. So.... an MGM film based on an (uncredited) Ian Fleming novel featuring titles by Binder? Are you seriously telling me that EON *didn't* know about Kaleidoscope??

....And Geoffrey Bayldon is playing a gadgets expert!
