Spies In Space- Moonraker vs. In Like Flint. Which is your favourite?

To ME, In Like Flint is a consistent parody, with great action scenes & females to boot. Moonraker is an inconsistent mess with great FX & a fantastic Barry soundtrack.
I like the Flint film better.

Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

    In Like Flint.

But if you really want to see the movie that was Moonraker before Moonraker, watch Kiss the Girls and Make Them Die.

I used to love the Flint movies, ( still think he's a great character, and could still
Make a entertaining series of films ) but looking at them now, the seem very slow
In places and IMNO, little action in places, the same goes for the Matt Helm films.
So I think Moonraker is the better film. :))

    I've not seen the space one and only a bit of the other ones years ago on BBC 2 but I have no doubt in my mind that Moonraker would easily trounce both of them. In fact, it used to be my favourite Bond film when I was a kid. :) -{

I admit I have a difficult time watching them now. Our Man Flint drags a bit too. In Like is faster paced and a bit funnier. Goldsmith's music is better on the second one as well.

I agree. And I would never choose one of those films over a Bond movie - not even Moonraker! :D

One of the Matt Helm movies, the Ambushers, also had a Space theme, about a flying saucer.

I used to love the Flint and Matt Helm movies but there was always one Helm movie I hadn't seen - Murderer's Row - until this summer when it was on one of the Sky channels, so I taped it and saved it to watch on my birthday.

My review, to Quote Bond taking to M at Skyfall Lodge: "Appalling". :# :))

The Flint movies are like Citizen Kane by contrast. :))

Funny, as a kid I thought the Flint movies were fun but silly. Now, I really like them. They are a parody, yes, but the imagery of the clothes, the 60's, the women...are the greatest. I bought the boxed set a few years ago. I would choose them over "Moonraker," sorry. There is something about James Coburn's look and his delivery that is intriguing...definitely over the top and campy, but in a good way. You are in on the joke.
Bond: "But who would want to kill me, sir?"
M: "Jealous husbands, outraged chefs, humiliated tailors . . . the list is endless."

I think Flint is a great character, the idea of stopping his heart ( Bond did
a bit of that himself in DAD :v ) , his use of Martial arts ( that was new for
the 60s) -{ also one scene from " our man Flint" ( Which I did see as a kid
on ITV ) which is always cut, but I think is over the top funny. Is Flint reviving
a soldier buy getting his boss to stick his finger in a light socket, and transfer the
Electric current into the soldiers heart, to start it again :)) with health and safety
Rules and not giving ideas to kids, It may never see the light of day again. :))

    Moonraker.

But I do like In Like Flint. The comedy is a bit too direct at times though.

but looking at them now, the seem very slow.

To bring myself up to speed I just watched both In Like Flint and Our Man Flint. (I actually had to BUY them because I couldn't find any place that rented em)

Both films were excruciatingly dull and I didn't laugh once. They reminded me of the first Pink Panther movie or Casino Royale 1967. Just flat out NOT FUNNY and tedious.

It was a little weird how some of the Bond parody references seemed to be based on You Only Live Twice, yet both Flint films were released prior to that Bond film. Hmmm. Moonraker should not even be part of this discussion. The real Bond question is why was YOLT borrowing from Flint?

Don't get me wrong..I do have a sense of humor and love the first two Austin Powers. Flint just didn't have enough hindsight to make an effective parody of Bond.
    My current 10 favorite:

Flint wasn't so much Bond parody as an American version with Batman sensibilities.

If you're just judging a Bond movie on elements that capture The International Jet Set glamour setting in which Bond operates , I put MR in the top 3 of the whole series.....It is a gorgeous, organic film to watch.........
