Which Movies should I make my GF watch who's never seen James Bond?

I told my Girlfriend that her dad did her a disservice by never having her watch a James Bond movie. She's never seen a single one, not even the old classics.

So I've told her I would help her achieve an understanding of James Bond that everyone else has. So the question I have is, which movies should I make her watch to get a feel for it all? She's not going to watch every single movie, but I thought maybe 2 classics, 1 with Pierce Bronson and then the last three movies that show how it all wraps up with SkyFall starting at the beginning. I kind of want her to have that awe moment at the end of Skyfall which I thought was amazing how they wrapped it all up having the classic male "M", Money Penny from the movies.

I looked at some "top" James Bond movies on Rotten Tomatoes and such and kind of came up with this as an initial list, but really wanted to get input from experts.

I like that start though I'd do GF, TSWLM, CR. Perhaps from there go OHMSS, TLD, GE to give a flavor for the rest of the Bonds.

First of all, Mastro, welcome to AJB. Hope you find it to your liking.

As to recommending Bond Films:

-DN for an introduction

-GF as its the iconic one of the franchise

-OHMSS as its considered a "must-see" (and to check out what Lazenby was all about)

-TSWLM because you must include an entertaining big-budget epic

-OP (purely) because I recommend a nice fun caper

-Either GE or TWINE to check out Brosnan (I consider these two to be his best)

-SF for a contemporary film

It depends on her tastes and personalities -- match the films to those, not the other way around.

Have you even asked if she wants to watch a Bond film?

In general, women I know like Casino Royale the best. They tend to be put off by the campiness of the Moore films. The Connery films seem old fashioned to the casual viewer today, but female friends who like Bond like them the best after Casino Royale.

Here's something to think about: Although I think On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a great film and terribly romantic, each time I've shown it to a girlfriend, their reaction has been, of course, sad, and then we've broken up a few weeks later. I don't know if that's causation or correlation, but it's happened several times now.

My gf only likes modern movies. Hates old movies.... She likes the Brosnan films and really enjoys Craigs films. To bad she sat through me watching nearly all the Bond films. Torture for her.
