Shooting starts in two weeks and we know almost nothing about Bond 24.
Not even the bleeding title.
Here's what I know in order of importence.
Craig. Mendes, Waltz, Fiennes, Harris, Bautista, Seydoux, Rome, Austria, Morrocco, Mexico, London, Logan, Wade, Purvis, Hoyt van Hoytema, plane crash, car chase in Rome, Jiz Butterworth and Thomas Newman (has this been confirmed?).
All right, this is all me. By the end of 24 Bond finds out his parent's death was not an accident and in 25 he sets out to find out who is responsible and get his revenge.
EON is rewriting the script as we speak to incorporate my suggestions.
I'm not intoxiated. I'm just really, really sick and the medicine I took has got me feeling not too bad.
I would be more inclined to believe that article if it was written by Baz Bamigboye, his Bond info is generally reliable. Interesting to note they have a name (or should it be alias?) for Christopher Waltz's "unknown character".

That the character has a specific connection to something from Fleming makes this sound like more than just thin-air stuff. I hope they don't pull this lame "Cumberbatch is/isn't Khan" stuff, though.
Article claims the official press conference will be held in the first week of December so I guess we'll find out more then.
So I guess they're doing what they did with Naomie Harris/Moneypenny. They'll give him a name/alias then despite all the rumours, deny he's playing Blofeld, only for him to actually be playing Blofeld.
I hope he's in the role for a few films. Surely they can't bring back Blofeld in the form of Christoph Waltz just for one film??

I find this bit interesting:" the star is playing an unknown character called Franz Oberhauser, son of the late Hans Oberhauser, a ski instructor who acted as a father figure to Bond.
This is not only something a true Bond buff would know, it's also a New link to the Alps. Did the Snowy location change from Norway to the Alps after EON got the rights to Blofeld? I can't remember, but is it possible the location was shifted to Austria (partly) to Wright Blofeld into the script?
If Waltz' character is revealed to be Franz Oberhauser, I think the odds are very high he is really Blofeld.
Waltz as Blofeld, great news - I just hope they don't pull some plot contrivance that Blofeld, in the guise of Franz Oberhauser, was somehow behind the deaths of Bond's parents... Making it into some personal vendetta for 007...
I for one am a bit bored with Bond out on his own and out for revenge (to paraphrase a previous films tag line). Let's just have Bond on a straightforward assignment that just happens to involve a criminal mastermind as his opponent...
Japanese proverb say, "Bird never make nest in bare tree".
The more I think about it, the more I can see where this is going thematically...
In Skyfall we had M as the mother figure to both Silva and Bond and in this one we'll likely have Hans Oberhauser as the late father figure to Bond and Blofeld (well, in the latter's case actual father!)
Thus Blofeld's motivations/actions against Bond arising from sibling rivalry! Cue the "he loved you more like a son than me" dialogue from Blofeld...

I think they will move the "Hans Oberhauser" story idea from OP to his son "Franz". Either way I'm
glad they're still trying to keep some "Fleming" in Bond. {[]

Yes indeed - if true etc then cool they are still referring back to the source!!
Im just hoping we get some kind of explanation about what happened with Quantum. Seriously needs some kind of closure. Even if they don't directly feature, Christopher Waltz (Blofeld?) could talk about how he found them in hiding, killed Mr White and took over turning it into his own organization (SPECTRE?)
A speech about this in similar vein to Silva's speech at his abbandoned island would be cool too.

Can I ask a really dumb question...?? Was Blofled always Franz Oberhauser? Or is this a twist added by you guys?
Haven't read OP... would it be useful too?

It's just a twist. Hans Oberhauser was a father figure to Bond when he needed one.
Hans was involved as an innocent victim with Major Dexter Smythe in OP.

...ah. Quite a twist... but it's not confirmed that this is indeed Blofeld... just wishful thinking?
I think I'll read OP... it'll be good for my JB knowledge

It's a great story and wonderfully written by Fleming. {[]
" The line about him being a father figure, at a time when I needed one"
Comes from Bond himself.

I guess they nearly have to use the sibling rivalry angle if they og for this story, but I hope they don't overdo it.
but seriously, does anyone remember when EON got the rights to Blofeld compared to whe Austria became a location?

I found it myself. EON got the rights to Blofeld in November and Austria became a location in July at the latest.
I do believe the first round of screentests for Scandinavian actresses was in November/December and the screentests at Pinewood were earlier than May. Does anyone know when the rewrites happened?

I stand corrected. That implies that the location change to Austria didn't happen because Blofeld was written into the script. It's still possible, but ...
Los Angeles, CA (November 15, 2013) – Danjaq, LLC, the producer of the James Bond films, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the longtime distributor of the Bond films, along with the estate and family of the late Kevin McClory, announced today that Danjaq and MGM have acquired all of the estate’s and family’s rights and interests relating to James Bond, thus bringing to an amicable conclusion
the legal and business disputes that have arisen periodically for over 50 years.
Waltz as Blofeld, great news - I just hope they don't pull some plot contrivance that Blofeld, in the guise of Franz Oberhauser, was somehow behind the deaths of Bond's parents... Making it into some personal vendetta for 007...
Yeah, that would be a terrible idea!!
The only possible way it could be personal is if, like people are saying, Blofeld is the head of Quantum and Bond chases him down after getting back on the chase after Skyfall to catch who made Vesper betray him.

I'm happy to see Oberhauser brought into the mix---as it is a part of Bond lore---but am also slightly conflicted. I'm hoping it means that there will be some mountain climbing in #24...but I'm also growing a bit weary of the increasing reliance upon Bond's personal life and history being what the films are about rather than straightforward escapist spy/adventure missions.
I was one of Craig's most stalwart supporters/defenders when he got the role, and thoroughly enjoy everything he's done for the series (Fleming spirit and intent), but IMO it's getting to be time to stop navel-gazing. Then again, perhaps Craigger's tenure as Bond, ultimately, will be to give the James Bond character a definitive personal backstory and motivation...something the franchise steered away from (apart from OHMSS) in the first 20 films. Maybe the seventh Cinematic Bond (whomever he turns out to be) will be the one who returns to traditional Precious Classic FormulaTM outings.

According to The Mail. Blofeld IS Back !
This may of course still only be speculation but who knows ? )

I guess EON maybe stumped with the Quantum story. Not well received in general but on the otherhand it needs closure before DC retires.
Would def hope Mr White is seen again - maybe reporting or teaming up with a modern Blofeld or something.

Assuming Waltz is playing Blofeld, Julie Walters could be cast as Irma Bunt!

Eon acquired the rights to Blofeld back in 2004/5...it was part of the deal that saw Sony swap CR for the rights to Spider-Man...
Something occurred more recently than that which led to them releasing a statement about it a year ago last week:
