    Something occurred more recently than that which led to them releasing a statement about it a year ago last week:

    http://www.slashfilm.com/james-bond-may-face-blofeld-and-spectre-on-film-once-more/
    Los Angeles, CA (November 15, 2013) – Danjaq, LLC, the producer of the James Bond films, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the longtime distributor of the Bond films, along with the estate and family of the late Kevin McClory, announced today that Danjaq and MGM have acquired all of the estate’s and family’s rights and interests relating to James Bond, thus bringing to an amicable conclusion
    the legal and business disputes that have arisen periodically for over 50 years.

    That came about when McClory died and any claim he still had died with him, that's just Eon drawing a line underneath it...the rights were acquired when I said...

    Do you think Waltz will be bald in the role? I think if the Oberhauser is Blofeld rumour is true, he won't be bald. Just like the white cat it will be too much of a givaway. It is possible he will aquire the baldness and/or the cat during the Movie. Perhaps he gets an injury and as a result shaves his head?

    I actually doubt he will be bald if, in fact, he turns out to be Blofeld...it just seems as if Eon are determined to put a different spin on proceedings, so a 21st Century Blofeld will be a new take on the character. As always, though, it will be interesting to see! :007)

    Seems likely, indeed. Less cartoonish, and more dread-inspiring. I'm not holding out for a grey Nehru, either ;)

    Italian article (Google translated) regarding the filming in Rome, scheduled for 19th February to 12th March 2015. Goes into some detail which requires me to post a SPOILER ALERT!

    I was one of Craig's most stalwart supporters/defenders when he got the role, and thoroughly enjoy everything he's done for the series (Fleming spirit and intent), but IMO it's getting to be time to stop navel-gazing.

    I totally agree with you, old friend! -{

    We've seen (too much) enough of all the background, heritage and stuff in SF.
    More of this does not give the main figure more depth (I assume that that's Babs' and Mickey's intention) - it's just plain boring.

    Screw the pseudo-psychological stuff and make a decent action movie - Bond has enough to do with the recent challenges and stay with the formula {[]

    I'd very much like to see Craig tackle a Lewis Gilbert-style 'spectacle' Bond - with a spectacular third act that includes commando raids and big Ken Adam-type sets: his very own YOLT or TSWLM. Based on where Bond has been of late, this would be the sort of challenge that he could sink his teeth into. It would be great if #24 went there, but I'll be surprised if it does. Regardless, as always it will be fascinating to watch unfold -{

    At least Craig's Bond gets to use two new modes of transportation! :007)

    It's amazing how much the production team has managed to keep secret for us: much of the plot (thankfully) and the British Bond girl are unknown to us and there are only a couple of weeks to the press conferance. This is a good thing, I guess. At the time of the SF they could only confirm what we already knew.

    Imo the time of Ken Adam lairs are over - unfortunately :(

    These belong to a different genre and where never really convincing since Moonraker.

    I miss the interesting architecture of Ken Adam and I think there can be plots where they might have a place. It's not like billionairs have stopped making spectacular buildings!

    Waltz's appearance is very changeable. He looked completely different in Django compared with Basterds. He could easily be made to look twenty years older than Bond.

    That makes their announcement on November 15, 2013 even more interesting. Why sit on that news for 8 years and then issue a press release? Tipping their hands on the Blofeld reveal, a year ahead of time?

    ( Translated by Google)

    Thrilling chase through the streets of the historic center, gymkhana, fights, even a car that flies in the Tiber. While Bond lands by parachute nothing short of Ponte Sisto, in the heart of the Eternal City. Filmed partly in Rome, where the shoot is scheduled from 19 February to 12 March 2015, the new 007 film -super mega production of the Metro Goldwyn Mayer and directed by Sam Mendes (same Skyfall) and Daniel Craig once again in the role of secret agent more fascinating than ever - in Serbia has a series of spectacular scenes between buildings and ancient monuments.
    Three location for many scenes with a high rate adrenal have already been programmed in Borgo Vittorio, near the Vatican, with a speeding car that clashes in the night with a Fiat 500, another high-speed chase, always at night, along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, and then on LungoTevere, where even a car ends up in the river after a flight, even to say, spectacular. But the scene will remain in the memory is undoubtedly the one in which the ineffable Bond (who knows if in a tuxedo) will launch, always at night, from a helicopter flying over the city landing on the fifteenth-century bridge built by Pope Sixtus V to connect Piazza Trilussa, the heart of Trastevere, the other side of the city.
    Leaning to the studios of Cinecittà, the production of the film, the 24 th of the series James Bond, is among those who are bringing new substantial lymph coffers Italian with a substantial investment which, in addition to a series of scenes shot in Rome (also in other neighborhoods and other areas monumental) also shooting in Campania, in the Palace of Caserta. Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema is Dutch, while the script should be entrusted, as for Skyfall, John Logan. The theatrical release should be for the fall of 2015. For Daniel Craig, also the protagonist of Casino Royale (2006) Quantum of Solace (2008) Skyfall, will be the fourth adventure in the role of Bond.

    Call me what you will, but my guess is, if Waltz is really Bloefeld, they are going to remake the "Bloefeld trilogy". In the novels that was TB, OHMSS and YOLT. Of course TB was already remade, so they have to come up with a new first act (Bond 24).

    I haven't got a problem with bringing Blofeld back as long as it's a 21st century version and that it's not just a rehash of any of the Blofeld's by Pleasance/Savalas/Gray

    I'd also be against a remake of any of the films. As far as I'm concerned, if the franchise just starts remaking movies then the end is nigh.

    There's enough creative and talented film makers wanting to work on Bond for them to keep coming up with original stories.

    Yes, stick to the Bond formula but keep using elements of that formula in new ways.

    I doubt they are planning a Blofeld trillogy because Craig is only booked for Bond 24 and 25. There might be a Blofeld trillogy if Craig does a sixth movie, but there will be no remakes.

    Ok, so bring back Bloefeld, and tell the story of Bloefeld vs Bond, but no Tracy, no wedding...and incorporate Fleming...Sorry, but that's just incompatible. If they bring back the character Fleming created, then they should create a parallel Bond universe where Bond doesn't meet Tracy, doesn't marry and kills Bloefeld for other reason than revenge.

    My point is, if they bring the character back they should tell the story that Fleming told. Otherwise don't bring Bloefeld back. I'm ok if he's Oberhauser and they leave it at that.
  • Kent007Kent007 Posts: 338MI6 Agent
    Yeah, if Waltz is Blofeld I want him to be in as many films as possible until he eventually meets his demise but have to feel that if does do more than Bond 24 he'll only be in it for as long as Craig is.

    Possibly, if they bring back the Quantum story, Bond 24/25 will end that story line ready for whoever's the next Bond to take over with nothing unfinished.
