1962 - Doctor No. Naturally, as I was born just a couple of months before the film's actual release, I didn't get to see it until it was the ABC Sunday Night Movie at some point when I was around 7 or 8 - and, like all Bond films of that era, it lit up my mind like a brushfire. The action, the sets, the locations, the women (yes, even at that tender age, Ursula Andress in the bikini heightened my awareness)...and of course the protagonist himself. And the rest is history -{

You had to be a bit older than you remember because the first ABC Sunday Night Movie broadcast of Bond was Goldfinger in 1972... it was my second experience with Bond having just seen DAF in the theatre the previous year. Then LALD & the Bond revivals... those were the days!! -{
Same here, and in the car on the back seat, I used to sit on the armrest
No seatbelt either ! ) happy days.
Yep, my brother and I sat in the backseat of our parents' Wolseley Six, no seatbelts, thumping hell out of each other, clambering around all over the place., parents in the front smoking and occasionally turning round to give us a clip round the ear hole. Good times! )
But at least they weren't using mobile phones at the wheel or entering those yellow boxes at junctions without being sure they could exit properly.
I used to lie on the ledge above the back seat in the rear window. When my Dad braked, I would be thrown onto the seat below and roll into the foot well...and everyone would laugh. Hard to imagine that today!

Holy crap! I did that too- but I almost never flew off it. Then I got too big to do it...
Really? I must be missing something, although I suppose it's better than the alternative! (Although I haven't tried being dead yet, so I'm not certain!) )

Well, I'll go quietly. See, I hear tell there's a special level in Heaven for Bond fans where the movies are shown on 2000 foot screens in 108000 HD continuously. And the popcorn is FREE!
) So long as I get to give my " Directors commentary " before each film.

PLUS: Heaven is not bound by time. It has all the Bond movies ever. But some of the 23rd Century ones (before the 70's period pieces) seem very Star Trek-y.....

You're almost certainly right...because DAF was the first Bond film I saw on the big screen, at age 9...and upon reflection might have been the first one ever for me. The moment Connery started dangling outside the Whyte House on that thin wire, I was hooked for life.

Here's one for those born in '83 - you had the double treat of Connery and Moore. Which one did you prefer?

I was born after TMWTGG, which I enjoy for some of its Flemingesque elements, and both Sir Roger and Christopher Lee are great, wonderful "I'm trying to be helpful, Oh shut up Q" scenes with Mr's Llewellyn and Lee, and Herbert Valichez is a bossy and effective henchman as Nick-Nack. In a creepy way it's quite touching how much he loved his boss. Something rare among the baddies. However, the ruined car stunt and Sheriff Pepper are extremely irritating, esp as the character was an encore appearance. Though one good thing, he unintentionally started my interest in elephants and the fight to protect them. Plus the location scenes, and Mr Meddings wonderful miniatures. Almost a warm up to the fun in TSWLM!
Pussy, why not recorded MP3 commentaries? If they could be turned into podcasts, we could listen to them while watching the DVDs / Bluerays? This may sound cheeky, but I'm serious.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Just after TMWTGG ? You had everyone in the SBS thinking
you were a young fella ! ) sadly recording to mp3 and pod
Casts are all witchcraft to me, wouldn't know where to start.
Could be a great idea for a couple of members who can though.
If it could be ( I'm really going to show how much of an old duffer
I am here !) Some how recorded over Skype as several watch a film
Together. ) would be a fun experiment. )

I remember sitting in the small space behind the rear seat in my grandfather's VW Beetle
We had space for 2 there - no seatbelts
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
