horrendous title! I am a writer, well not published yet, but i guarantee i can come up with a better title. Also, again... "Bond sucked once more on his cigarette". Ive heard great stuff about Horrowitz, but hopefully these are just rare instances. Honesty Murder on Wheels wasn't a great title but its helluva better than Trigger Mortis.
Turns out Trigger Mortis is a video game term for when your thumbs go numb from excessive button mashing. so they are not the 1st to come up with it
But based on the title, i think they could pull a Live and Let Die torture scene, where the villain temporarily breaks Bonds trigger finger so Bond needs to step up his game and get back into shooting-shape - not too unlike what they did with Skyfall with the shoulder wound. Trigger Mortis would be a great chapter title.
So if Pussy's in it it could be in between Goldfinger and Thunderball, excluding the shorts. That is the barrier between the SMERSH saga and the SPECTRE saga. The way i see it is it could be a standalone villain, or it could be a prequel to how SPECTRE gets started, now that they've got the copyright, and that way it could tie into the film.
Yeah foul title. But then some of the movie titles took a while to sink in for me.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

I just changed the thread title there. -{
The title is a pun but perhaps it will grow on us? The addition of Pussy Galore sounds a little gimmicky but I'll not judge the book until I read it of course. Horowitz has revealed that it is set two weeks after Goldfinger. Looking forward to it anyhow!
Anthony Horowitz reveals today (28th May), on what would have been James Bond creator Ian Fleming’s 107th birthday, that his forthcoming official 007 adventure is to be titled Trigger Mortis. In a move that will whet the appetite of fans worldwide and is unprecedented among recent Bond novels – the contents have always been shrouded in mystery until publication – Horowitz divulges that the secret agent’s new adventure begins in 1957, two weeks after the events of Fleming’s Goldfinger. Horowitz places Bond in the middle of the Soviet-American Space Race as the United States prepares for a critical rocket launch, and brings back the most famous Bond Girl of all: Pussy Galore!
Horowitz is the latest contemporary novelist to tackle literature’s greatest action hero, and the first to place his work directly within Fleming’s original canon. As well as Pussy Galore, the book features: brand new Bond Girl Jeopardy Lane; Jai Seung Sin, a sadistic, scheming Korean adversary hell-bent on vengeance; and breathless, globe-trotting adventure. Uniquely among latter-day Bond authors, Horowitz has included original Ian Fleming material: a treatment for Murder on Wheels, an episode of a television series that was never made. Fleming’s text sees Bond in the high-octane world of motor racing and it is his never-used plot that kicks off the action of Trigger Mortis.
Anthony Horowitz said: “It was always my intention to go back to the true Bond, which is to say, the Bond that Fleming created and it was a fantastic bonus having some original, unseen material from the master to launch my story. I was so glad that I was allowed to set the book two weeks after my favourite Bond novel, Goldfinger, and I'm delighted that Pussy Galore is back! It was great fun revisiting the most famous Bond Girl of all - although she is by no means the only dangerous lady in Trigger Mortis. I hope fans enjoy it. My aim was to make this the most authentic James Bond novel anyone could have written.
"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).

P.S. Looks like the title's been used before, then:
"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).
Personally, I think all of this is absolutely fabulous news!
I like the title — it could have come from Fleming and the idea to set TRIGGER MORTIS in 1959 between Goldfinger and Thunderball shows that Horowitz has given the project real thought. He hasn't just dashed off another post TMWTGG continuation novel.
Bond was at his absolute peak after Goldfinger and it was was such an interesting year from a historical perspective: Moscow's Luna2 crashed into the moon, Hawaii became the 50th American state and Castro came to power — it will be interesting to see how much, if any, of this finds its way into Horowitz's novel.
I also love the idea of bringing Pussy Galore into the plot. Just writing that name makes me think of the delectable Honor Blackman - surely the most beautiful and sexy woman to ever play a Bond girl. What man could fail to want lots of Pussy!
I do hope they get Ms.Blackman along to the book premier.
After the absolutely disastrous celebrity trilogy, I think that at long last we have something to look forward to. Great stuff — bring it on, I can't wait for publication.
I'm always excited about any James Bond novel. After not liking Carte Blanche much I really enjoyed Solo, so I have high hopes that the new book will be another exciting read.
It's a bit of a strange title but I couldn't be more excited about the novel. I love that it is set just after Goldfinger, which means we will get to see Fleming's Bond in his prime. I like the links to the Space Race and motor racing, which are both subjects that I am very interested in. The fact that it is based on an original Fleming treatment is also an interesting element added to the mix.
Do you think he will be asked to write a second Novel?
If he does for 007 what he did for the literary Sherlock, I certainly hope so !
IFP have made such a dog's breakfast of this whole continuation saga they owe literary Bond fans a result and hopefully Horowitz is it.
Personally I love his work — particularly Foyle's War were I found the last series absolutely masterful.

I would love for one writer to write like 15 Bond books 1 year each, either have it be Fleming continuations or modern day. but i dont know how that would work if he is starting in the middle of the fleming canon between the smersh saga and the spectre saga
I have nothing against 'Trigger Mortis' although my idea of calling it 'Spector' would have been far more devilishly delicious :v . I think it would be hilarious if the much-maligned cigarette sucking line was from Fleming's unpublished work and not written by Horowitz at all!
I am looking forward to this and I'm excited by the fact it's set in 1957.
I read both Deaver and Boyd's novels and enjoyed them. At some stage I'll get round to buying the Gardner and Benson novels as I've not read any of those yet.
e an Author to write 15 new Bonds Novels, I can't see it happening sadly.
If Higgons wrote 5 young Bond, then someone could at least do 5 in a row, and i think John Gardner wrote either 14 or 15 books, in fact he probably has more pages or word count than Fleming himself. My novel series is heavily inspired by bond, i think i could do that many

The celebrity trilogy authors were Faulks, Deaver and Boyd. Recruited for their reputation and delivered double 0 zero.
And yes, you are correct there is a good chance that SIR Stirling will appear and hopefully will be at the book launch along with Ms.Blackman!

A bit from the independent on Trigger Mortis. Nothing new information wise, just
Pointing out that Horowitz uses the " Fleming" material at the beginning of the story,
About motor racing.

On the top right corner of the first cover, it says Horrowitz?
I always picture Sean in the 50s & 60s Bond, and Daniel in anything after that
