Having owned a couple of different replicas one thing that is always off is the ribbing on the collar. They never sit flat like the SA one, and I notice that yours had the same inaccuracy, one way I've always thought would rectify it would be to lose some of the material, yes if you were to zip it all the way to the top it might choke you and be a bit too tight, but who's really ever going to zip it up to the top. You guys might have a better idea of how to get it to look right though...
I can send you photos of my Wested replica and also a pic of the one screen used in CR (from David Z's collection) just let me know your email if interested.
Looking good so far and I'm still interested. With the pockets it looks like the have stitched the pleats from separate pieces. Where as the picture of your jacket you can tell it is one piece of leather that has been pleated. If you know what I mean lol.
Well I finally have Sample No1, in hand, well you may wonder what are my thoughts.
Overall Pattern cutting of the jacket is very good.
Stitching is correct in all the right places.
The small details are all there, even down to the inside pockets with leather detailing (not entirely correct tho.
The correct looking Brown cotton lining (satin lining in the sleeves too as per original).
Thing I am not happy with.
Colour off but just slightly.
thread for stitching needs to be thicker.
Pockets, the company have obviously tried to make them look high quality and they have fallen down doing this (they have glued the seams in the pockets to give the v shape and lined the pockets).
Studs on the pockets are a little too bulky.
Collars just a little to thick.
Zip, I need to find a zip that's a close match.
Overall you will see I'm pretty critical off the jacket, the main reason for this is I want to be able to produce the most authentic and accurate replica of this jacket possible. It will not be made available until I am happy.
Hi
I don't want to take any money until I am happy with the product,
Ross
Thats the spirit - glad to hear of the revisions, with the eagle eyes here I'm sure it will end up very close indeed!!!
I think with the pockets sorted you will be 99.9% there!
Interesting you mention about the thickness of the collar - I think your right as from memory it kind of collapsed a little near the entrance and was not too thick!
I am looking for other companies as the company I was using are slow to get back to me and there are some parts I was really not happy with the quality of stitching etc so far puts it on par with high street stores like H&M etc. I won't be happy until I have it to at least Gucci, Diesel quality and it's not there yet. Might take a bit longer but it will get there

Agree the creases on replicas are perfect in a "ironed" kind of way. Original is nothing like that

How's the quality of the leather? What hide is being used in the replica? Do you know what the hide is on the Armani - is it lamb?
Kind regards,
Craig
The Armani is Lamb but I think it is Nappa Lamb, the leather in the replica is just lamb.
Ross
I know, was just illustrating my excitement about the project. You can definitely count me in for one...
