Anyone here playing the game Alien: Isolation? the original Alien is one of my favorite films and this game captures the atmosphere and horror of it perfectly, its definitely the most nerve wracking game I've ever played, and im a big fan of the Dead Space series.

    I know nothing about gaming, but remember playing the likes
    Of resident evil, and at times being scared of going into the next
    Room, given what freakish thing I'd just run away from ! :))

    I shall probably buy it, as I've had all the AvP games in the past, which I enjoyed - also being a fan of the first 2 Alien films and the first Predator.

    Yes, I'm not into games either but my best friend had that one and he showed it to me a few time - the longish pauses really built up the tension when for instance you opened a door or whatever, though I heavily suspect that that was not an intentional design feature of the game! :))

    Yes, that was what I was trying (but failing miserably) to put across above. :))
    You've put it much more succinctly and all the better for it, AOS! :) -{

    Thanks, friend! It's my unfamiliarity with computer games y'see! Never owned a console in all my life but I do have a few PC computer games.

    Alien Isolation is on my radar and I am especially curious to play the levels based on the original film, but based on what I've seen of the game I'm not sure it warrants its current $60 pricetag.

    As I understand it, large portions of the game involve hiding and creeping around slowly as the alien cannot be killed. That's an interesting concept for a while but I'm not sure how it would hold up in a game that supposedly takes 15-20 hours to finish. I've also read several reviews suggesting there is an element of randomness to whether the Alien will "see" you or not, even when you're hiding.

    I'm also a big Dead Space fan BTW; it was one of my favorite series of games from the last generation and the original in particular was just about perfect and how I felt an Alien game should have been set up. Hopefully we'll get a next-gen Xbox One/PS4 version some day.

    the majority of the game is spent hiding from the Alien who randomly roams around the level, as you can imagine its way more nerve wracking and stress inducing then anything in Dead Space because its true survival horror, you're alone, weak, and constantly being hunted by something you cant kill. but its a terrifying and exhilarating experience to be hiding from the Alien in either a locker, under a desk, or a vent and see him walk by looking for you, nothing in Dead Space can match it, not even the Hunter in the original.
