Getting The Classic Dinner Jacket Look

I have been looking to get a replica of the Dr No dinner jacket ( midnight blue, gauntlets and all) for a decent price and failed to.
Anthony Sinclair I am told wants " £4,200.00 for bespoke and £1,500.00 made-to-measure." which is just too much for me, I have struggled to find an accurate replica for a midrange price ( say up to £600 or so) . I am certain a large portion of collectors would also benefit from this; therefore i ask if anyone has any ideas. I really would rather go and get measured in person then order online ( say like magnolia ) as you just get a better fit that way.

P.S The QOS Dinner jacket is practically the same and no one i know has managed to find something very close to it.

Anyone had any luck ?

You can try mytailor.com, though for measuring in person I think they only do North America. They know how to fit a suit properly and can do things like gauntlet cuffs and forward-pleat trousers. There is Graham Browne in the City, but they charge around £1000. Most made-to-measure can't do thins like gauntlet cuffs, and many can't even do forward-pleat trousers with button-tab side-adjusters.

    Hi QT,
I ran into the same challenges with bespoke clothing.
Matt S has written many posts here about measurements done at your home, or by a local tailor, then having the garment manufactured elsewhere.
After a few failures, I finally listened to Matt, and had a bespoke outfit made.
I am local to San Francisco, and used Peter Navin. We have many, many bespoke outfitters here, and his website spoke to me, as he does many film repro and bespoke outfits.
    What an experience!
It really is all about the experience of having the suit made, and then wearing it. Just like a car restoration, the experience is over half the fun!
I suggest that you correspond with our learned brethren, like Matt, get all the specs on the suit, and then go and interview local tailors in your area.
I can guarantee you that you won't be paying Sinclair prices, and you will be getting a suit that fits.
Interview them, and see who is excited about your project.
ps your price range for the jacket is definitely in the ballpark, as we say out here.

I will be sharing photos of my bespoke Lazenby cream linen Portugal suit in 2 weeks, after the Nov 9th OHMSS re enactment in SF, posted elsewhere.

PM me with anything you need.
    Cheers,
    Tom

So I found a Made to measure tailors in this price range and am going to go for a measure tomorrow and choose the fabric. Just wondering if anyone has any info on what type of midnight blue for the effect?

Get true midnight blue, which will practically look black. For the cloth, barathea wool is the classic and probably what Connery wears in Dr. No. You could also go for mohair or a mohair/wool blend, like in Thunderball and Quantum of Solace. Mohair is better for warm weather, but it look flashier.
