I agree. It's a great one-off line once you figure out the context (popular dog training video from the UK) and works in a way that the "delicatessen in stainless steel" quote from For Your Eyes Only, for instance, certainly doesn't.
+1
"The secret agent. The man who was only a silhouette..." -- Ian Fleming, Moonraker
1) The Spy Who Loved Me 2) On Her Majesty's Secret Service 3) GoldenEye 4) Casino Royale 5) Goldfinger
Just watched TWINE, no problems there- loved the flick!
TWINE takes me back; I no longer rate it quite as highly as I did at the time of its release -- the pacing drags, some of the dialogue is clunky and I certainly dislike the villains -- but the late Brosnan era, for me, was a great time to be a Bond fan (even with the wretched Die Another Day on the immediate horizon, but w/e we were all too busy playing 007 Nightfire, anyway :P )
Upon re-watch I was impressed at how well Pierce Brosnan carries the film; he injects pathos into his performance and manages to work around some truly cringe-y dialogue.
Also: Dr. Christmas Jones ain't half bad.

Wow...even if everything was as perfect as, say FRWL, I would still have an issue with the "Christmas comes once a year" line...And the Chrsitmas-Croft-nuclear scientist character...Otherwise, my favourite Brosnan movie.
Ok, so "Mango Tree" isn't the best song in a Bond film (it isn't even the best tune in DN). The film may appear dated to some now. Fleming purists may wince at the changes from the novel (Felix? Prof Dent? No squid!!!).
BUT it was a revolution at the time (hence why it arguably hasn't aged so well). The cast is, on the whole, well-chosen. The groundwork for future Bond films is solidly laid. Sean Connery is introduced to the world audience, as of course is James Bond and his core supporting cast (M, Moneypenny, Q (alright, Boothroyd), Felix), and very effectively. John Barry's "James Bond Theme" is gloriously featured. Terence Young handles his small budget superbly. Ken Adam gets going.
What am I missing?

Yes, I find the movie a pure joy from beginning to end. Some funny rear projection excepted. )

Unfortunately, "Mango Tree" is the best song in DN. I agree with most of what you said. However, where you say the "James Bond Theme is gloriously featured", I say that it is dangerously overused, just because the rest of the score is horrendous. Where you say that Young handles "his small budget superbly" (I agree), I say it's still a small budget and it shows (the "dragon" scene for instance).
It's still a wonderful movie, and certainly the movie that started it all, but the actual trend setting (revolutionary if you will) movies were IMHO FRWL and GF. Thus, they make my list of "problem free" movies. DN does not. Never will.

Yes, I'd say it's his best Bond performance.
I do. For instance, "Underneath the mango tree" is not my favourite song, let me put it this way.
Same as me with all yours, Sir. But that's the beauty of this franchise.
Living Daylights is the odd one out for me; I don't find it nearly as good as the other films listed...

I do too.
That's it? ?:) From the film that started it all?

No, that's not it.
