Thanks for the link. I see that the Professional watch was designed with professionals in mind. But for people like Bond and others who want to be like him, the Seamaster Professional functions and is visually no differently than a sports watch. Professional or sports, it still shouldn't be worn with a suit like Brosnan and Craig wear theirs.

"The key to these watches was the O-ring gasket. At this time, water-resistant watches generally used lead or shellac gaskets which were susceptible to temperature changes. The Seamaster, however, used a rubber gasket of the type that had proven its abilities in submarines during the Second World War"

"With what can be considered two lines in one, the “Professional” and “Dress” ranges of the Seamaster line have, for over half a century, complemented each other and ensured the Seamaster's place on the wrists of some of the world most famous royalty, divers, treasure hunters and even a spy or two."

Now those are two statement from Omegas own site which really support what I was saying about the Seamasters purpose and the diference in "Professional” and “Dress” ranges of the Seamaster now the planet ocean says professional under seamaster on the watch, the Aqau Terra does not.

Omega calls the Aqua Terra "sporty", and I agree with them

Some of the old Seamasters were dress watches and look very much like the new De Villes.

There is a difference Matt in Sporty in appearance and it being classed as sports watch. A Fiat Punto can look sporty but its no sports car. Again from Omega "With what can be considered two lines in one, the “Professional” and “Dress”. The PO says professional, the Aqua Terra does not, if Omega says “Professional” and “Dress” are the two lines and the AT does not say professional does that not show its comes under the category Dress? .

Its going to be something which we wont agree on., so we can jsut agree to disagree on this.

Holden, I think I've made a decision. Eventually.
I think the aqua terra is the best purchase. From general feedback, the SMP is not a poor watch by any means. However the AT Is said to have been more robust, despite looking sheek it will also stand up against the elements. I can wear it to work, in scruffy clothes. To jeans and a Tshirt, to then evening wear. Would you agree? The SMP will come eventually but I think the AT is the best first purchase.

Agree (only because, as Welshie stated, it is not out there in vast quantities or a staple model. Where as you will always pick up a SMP (as brilliant a timepiece as it is))......

Oh and its stunning, different and goes with anything - sporty or not !)

It's stunning I'll definitely agree with that. If DC can wear it in an exploding house during a gun fight and with a tux. I'm sure I can wear it every day. Lol

I can't really comment on the true robustness, because I 'baby' my watches and have a large rotation of pieces.

The AT, however, is a superb piece, with an excellent movement and will look attractive whatever you wear it with. And I prefer the Skyfall version to the updated Master Co-Axial version, that looses the date surround and gains polished centre links on the bracelet.
Be sure to post pics once you have made a purchase!

I'm sure it won't be long before I'm looking at getting the SMP. Then I can have one for each wrist.

Here's a question. Skyfall AT. or the new model, includes the master co axial movement and magnetic resistant. Also has the polished links.

The new one features polished centre links and omegas new master coaxial movement. Aesthetically it's not as nice as the skyfall model. Doesn't really have much on the old one. Given the press around omegas new coaxial it wouldn't surprise me if the new AT is the bond watch for bond 24.

Im in Cancun at the moment and the weather is dull hence I ended up in a mall which led to Omega browsing. I did end up in a Rolex boutique but the security guard literally followed me around the store like I was about to do the place over!!! In the Omega store I ended up talking to the salesperson for ages and he was getting all sorts of Speedmasters, Devilles, Aqua Terras out and slapping them on my wrist.

Anyhow they received one of the new Seamaster Master Co-Axials. I ended up trying the blue one on since it was the only version they had. Was not as blingy as I thought and I actually didnt mind it at all, nice to see it or its black SS version as the next Bond watch.

I took my iphone out and forgot to take a pic. This is one from the internet but in person it did not look as blue or blingy.

I also tried on a watch im not familar with at all. It was a Bullhead. Not sure what this watch is aimed at marketing wise

Found it a rather bastardised piece lol Strange but i found it kind of easy to use with the pushers at the top of the case, maybe not such a silly idea but rather odd looking!!!

    Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new watch..... Congratulations! -{

I was in Amsterdam yesterday trying the new Seamaster 300 (wasn't my cup of tea) and also tried on the new and old Aqua Terra. I have to say the older one (like yours, without the polished center links) looks a lot better IMHO. My girlfriend preferred the new one.
