    I just finished watching the BBC miniseries "Jonathan Strange and mr. Norell". The story takes place during the Napoleonic wars, but in a slightly different version where magic comes back to England after being gone for 300 years. The magic is more inventive and interesting than in most other versions on screen, the cast is excellent and the story is original and spellbinding :D

    Only thing spoiling the Aston stuff was Hollywood.

    "I am working class boy from Liverpool (or was it the Wirall?)" Repeat: "I am a working class boy from Liverpool (or the Wirall).

    Even pissed off the Aston fella with it in the end.

    Yeah, Paul. You might have been once but now you're a wealthy bunmaker off the TV. Who's getting to play with Astons. Most folk aren't. Adds to what we've summised for a while: you're a bit of an arse.

    But, hey, fat wealthy middle aged bloke owns an Aston Martin. Yup, sounds about the core market. ;)

    'Ray Donovan.'

    Not a bad performance from any of the actors. All brilliant characters. Jon Voight is sensational.

    I saw the first season of Gotham. The series is very well made, but it's strength is also its weaknes. The series takes place just after Bruce Wayne's parents are killed and the future Batman's enemies and allies are emerging. The young Catwoman, Falcone, commisioner Gordon, The Penguin and many others are interesting, but THEY CAN'T DIE in this series since they will be around when Wayne becomes an adult. As a result the story seems like an eteral fight where no-one dies or truly looses-

    This is an interesting take, Number24; but has the appeal of Batman's villains always been that Batman can possibly kill them? Batty's villains are iconic--they can never really die, and I think a major draw to "Gotham" is that we get to see them come into being. That said, hang on for season two. . .you'll find that some things aren't exactly what they seem to be, and that, yes, those things can die. . .

    Just watched the pilot for 'Hand of God' with Ron Perlman.

    What a strange programme. Will definitely have to watch a few of these before I make a decision about it.

    Watching "Who do you think you are" tonight on BBC 1. Mark Gatiss
    Looking up the Irish side of his family ( his Mum was half Irish). He
    Ended up in a town called Garvagh in County Londonderry.
    Which was an odd coincidence for me, as I live no where near it but
    Yesterday . That's where I was, ( I was driving all over the place yesterday).
    I did have the loveliest Burger ever in a local pub though. :D

    I remember one series where they had to evaluate a sell a first edition of Fleming's Octopussy and The Living Daylights. I think it was in 2009. I have a first edition of it myself. :) -{
