I'm another fan of Death in Paradise, I've every episode on google movies. In a recent
poll in one of the papers Kris Marshall was the winner of Favourite Detective on the
Island. I agree every actor has brought some interesting idiosyncrasies to the series,
but I still love the over the top " English-ness " of Ben Miller desperate to get a
proper cup of Tea.
His first scenes are very good. Uptight Brit wandering around in a suit in million degree heat.
I never really watched them at the time but my dad watches them so every time I'm with him we watch a couple. It's a very easy programme to watch. Not too complicated that you have to watch too hard and the right amount of humour to keep it light.
It's Brutal Murder for the whole family It's my version of watching sport.
As I usually give out a cheer,if I solve a murder. I know it probably sounds
stupid but in Ralph Little's first appearance there's a Double locked room
Murder,..... Which I solved and ( Did annoy my wife ) by twitching on my
seat to get telling her. So Like a football fan who walks a little taller
the next day after a big win, I was so proud of my self ....... as you can see
I don't set my goals very high

We’ve been watching Death In Paradise again from the beginning. It’s remarkable how each new detective seamlessly becomes part of the team without effecting the quality of the programme, usually a change of lead actor can mean the end of a series.
Who's your favourite? I enjoyed Kris Marshall.
They do seem to have a magic formula in transitioning lead actors. It doesn't effect the quality of the programme at all.
Yes, agree with you, Lady Rose, Kris Marshall is my favourite.
Josephine Joubert (Florence) was my favourite DS and apparently she is returning in the new season next year -{
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
I've just a programme I recorded a couple of weeks ago. Jurgen Klopp: Germany's Greatest Export.
Quite an interesting programme. Only an hour and not that in-depth but I never realised he became a football manager by accident. He was a player for Mainz and they weren't doing very well. They sacked the manager and had no money to replace him. Klopp was injured and not playing so he got the job of managing the team. The rest, as they say, is history.
I wonder if I'm the only one who when offered the option to " Skip"
the opening music to Mission Impossible, ... Never does, I love that
Theme. Well done Lalo Schifrin a Masterpiece -{

I (obviously) watched this programme too...I didn’t think much of it at all...in fact it was about ten minutes of a programme stretched out to an hour 8-) the only new information I found out was that Klopp appeared on some German quiz tv show

I agree. I was being kind when I said it wasn't in-depth )
It was obviously just a hastily made, Covid filler programme.

Nope TP, you're not alone, I could never skip the opening credits of an episode with that brilliant music accompanying all the tightly-edited action & intrigue shots from each episode. I hope Sky runs more of the original series, I really enjoyed watching the first two.

Hubby and I were having that very conversation the other day but about 'The Sweeney'.

Some theme tunes just have to be listened to.
Too right! Add The Professionals, The Persuaders, The Return of The Saint, to that list.

100%. The Persuaders theme tune is very underrated. I had the Return of The Saint as my ringtone at one time.
Another one I always loved was Randal and Hopkirk (Deceased). While I'm here I'll also throw in The Protectors, Avenues and Alleyways by Tony Christie.
Some great Themes ( I always loved Dept S ) I was surprised by the titles of
The Professionals, as in the first series they Jump from Cowley's Rolls Royce
and sprint to an assault course. I didn't remember that at all

Isn't there a voiceover from Cowley at the start of the credits too, for the first few episodes? Which was subsequently dropped?
All those spy shows had great themes and credits ... The Prisoner and The Man from UNCLE are also shows where I could never skips the credits.
{[] Yes Cowley does a voice over, how they're above the law etc. Also I forgot how
Much of a Hard man Cowley was He got stuck in a few times even threatening to
get a Pimp hooked on drugs if he didn't cooperate with a murder investigation.

Has anyone watched 'The Alienist'? And of so, any good?? I started it once but gave up half way through the first episode. Not sure I was in the right mood at the time
I finished watching 'Freud'. I did enjoy it but it was a 'Penny Dreadful' rip off.
I really enjoyed The Alienist, I'll admit that some of the episodes did seem a little
" Padded " to fill ten episodes, But I loved the atmosphere of the series.

Thanks Thunderthighs ... I'll give The Alienist another try ( I do have a soft spot for Luke Evans)
Plundertushie, the Saint episodes are (almost) all available in high resolution quality on the Shout! Factory dvd website.
Same with Danger Man and the Prisoner. ( no Avengers however).
According to wikipedia, Shout! Factory has the current dvd rights to both series.
Does their website maybe not work outside North America?
Just discovered over the past few days, that there's loads of The Saint episodes
on YouTube.
I bought the boxset of the Persuaders!
I only have one episode left, and I have been loving it to bits. It's so comfy, and Sir Rog is on peak form here. It is a shame it only lasted one season, however I am glad he went on to do Bond of course

John Barry. No more needs to be said.
I do love an instrumental. OHMSS is my favourite Bond theme

Of the modern stuff I have added 'Succession' (absolutely brilliant) and 'Line of Duty'
My all time favourite though is 'The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe'.
