Oh my god what have they done. Sam Smith states that he wrote this in ten minutes........well it sounds like it.....in fact to be fair it's a wonder it took ten minutes. What you have here is The World Is Not Enough slowed down. At least with that the singer had a good go at it. We will now have to suffer the embarassment of the X Factor wannabes trying to preform this week in week out because Sam Smith sings it. Let's hope that the rule of Bond doesn't come into play......Bad theme..bad film ! Quick Mr MENDES, get Adelle to at least re-record it.
Anyone remember TWINE? It's better than that and for 99p it's the cheapest Bond thing I've bought this year )
Would even beg to differ - this is somewhat of a letdown right now... No grandeur à la Goldfinger or Thunderball, and the high pitch is godawful i.m.o.
It might grown on me, or it might need serious compensation by the opening credits like mentioned before.
It feels like I'm the only one here who loves to song. I think it's way better then Skyfall. The lyrics is great and it's in the top 10 in my list. Great work from Smith! -{
Don't confuse me with the other DutchBondFan, but be sure to follow his YouTube account. You can read my articles on James Bond Nederland: www.jamesbond.nl/author/gosse/
Skyfall was the best theme song of DC era. To this day, I still listen to the track and it still give me shivers. Adele's voice is timeless. This song is not even comparable.
However, this song is expecting to be the first #1 Bond movie song because of Smith's massive fans around the world.
"Some men are coming to kill us. We're going to kill them first."
Intro says "Bond film" straight off, lyrics are mostly relevant-I think it'll grow on me.
Not the best, but certainly not the worst by a long way (remember TMWTGG!)
Arm yourself, because no one else here will save you.
This is pretty lacklustre. It's not dire (See Madonna's DAD theme) nor is it exceptional (See most of them). It's just ... average. You can visual how strong it'll be when set to footage in the title sequence, but that's about as far as it'll go. Waste of an opportunity.
Been growing on me the more I listen to it: here are the words
[Verse 1]
I’ve been here before
But always hit the floor
I’ve spent a lifetime running
And I always get away
But with you I’m feeling something
That makes me want to stay
[Pre-Chorus]
If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
[Chorus]
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing’s on the wall
[Verse 2]
A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won’t be afraid
[Pre-Chorus]
If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
[Chorus]
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing’s on the wall
[Bridge: Instrumental]
The writing’s on the wall
[Chorus]
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing’s on the wall

Disappointing, for a film that's been hyped with such a huge budget and probably DC's last outing as Bond I would have expected something a lot better. I don't want a Bond theme to grow on me, it should smack me around the face and grab me by the b@lls but this just doesn't do it. I will wait until I hear it on the big screen and maybe my opinion will change but I doubt it.
Better than QOS, but nowhere near as good as SF. I will reserve final judgement for when I see it paired with the main titles. I didn't like Chris Cornell at first either, but paired with the main titles of CR it was a perfect match.

According to Sam Smith,Sam Mendes had a hand in it too.

I don't like Sam Smith's style so was concerned about him being chosen.
I'll have to give it a few more listens but it's all a bit meh
(And how on earth am I suppose to sing along when it's that high?!)
Not the best, but certainly not the worst by a long way (remember TMWTGG!)
Just what I was thinking
Will try again later when I'm at home.
His voice hasn't got the range for the high bits, seems to go a bit screechy, and it's just dull!
Maybe they should chuck it on the end credits and use the new version of OHMSS for the title sequence -{
And I'm not being negative for the sake of it.I liked 'Another Way Die' and 'DAD' )
Bond like, as without it ...........
TBH - I think it's better than Skyfall's theme but not a patch on CR or QoS - if we're talking Craig era films.

It'll do.
I'd love to hear Shirley or Tom, do a cover. )
BBC news, Bond theme splits opinions. Although Sir Roger said
It was very haunting and wonderfully orchestrated.
So overall I like it, but my fears about the voice are confirmed.
(Oh well, at least he pronounces his words correctly, unlike Adele).
1 - Moore, 2 - Dalton, 3 - Craig, 4 - Connery, 5 - Brosnan, 6 - Lazenby
