i meant 40s, Fleming was doing stuff in WW2, in fact as he was writing the books espionage was on its last limbs as he said, which is kind of what Skyfall is about. I think if Fleming had known he would've started Bond off in the 40s and we get a little of that in Solo

According to the Daily Star Adele has already recorded the theme song for Spectre.

    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/445278/Adele-James-Bond-theme-song-Spectre

"ADELE has recorded the theme tune to new James Bond film Spectre, sources claim.

She will make history by becoming the first singer to perform the title track on back-to-back 007 flicks. Adele, 27, won an Academy Award, Golden Globe and a BRIT for Skyfall which became a worldwide hit in 2012.

The reclusive star has been missing from the charts since performing the number at the Oscars in February 2013.

Other names linked to the 24th Bond film’s title track included Sam Smith, Lana Del Rey, Lorde and Faith. But according to sources close to Adele, inset, she has had approval from film company Eon Productions to sing it. It is claimed she recorded the track in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Our source said: “Adele was just one of a few artists asked to write and record the title track for Spectre.

“Sam Smith was the favourite to be picked among insiders but Adele has got the nod. It is huge pressure for her after the unbelievable success of Skyfall. To anyone else it would be a poisoned chalice but if anyone can pull it off it is

    Adele.

“It is a massive scoop for the film, too, as the world awaits her third hugely-delayed album.”

Spectre, the sequel to Skyfall, is set for UK release on November 6 and will see Daniel Craig return as 007 alongside Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, David Bautista, Andrew Scott, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear and Christoph Waltz.

Adele is due to attend the film’s world premiere in London at the end of October. Dame Shirley Bassey recorded three Bond songs – Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker. But none of them were in back-to-back Bond films."

I really liked her song for SF, so if the story is true, then I'm happy
as I'm sure she'll release another great theme. Although I don't envy
    the pressure, she must be under to do a followup. -{

I think like the story suggests it would have been a poisoned chalice for anyone else, so it sort of makes sense she would get the gig. The song will either be better than Skyfall in which case everyone will have a love-in, just as good which will result in the same scenario, or it won't acheive anywhere near the success as Skyfall which then leaves the door open for other artists to do Bond 25!!

Shirley Bassey did a good job on 3. Adele is probably every bit as good as her, so if true, I'm ok with this.

Bassey also recorded songs that went unused for Thunderball and Quantum of Solace. I'm glad they didn't use her song for Thunderball because that would have been too soon. I think Adele returning is too soon as well. Are they trying too hard to copy Skyfall? I feel like this movie will be more like Skyfall than any other films by the same Bond directors.

I can see this film being really compared to SF. :D SF part two ? :))

I wonder if we're to get another soulful ballad, or will she give us more of
a rock song ? Either way it should be interesting. :D

Ive said this before, but you know what they should've done for Skyfall to perfectly hit on that "honoring the classics while going into new territory" theme. A Duet with Adele and Shirley Bassey

Like others, I am more than happy for Adele to do another one: Skyfall is one of the best songs they've used. And Adele is the only one who can match Shirley Bassey for my money.

Yup, i think Chris Cornell did a great job, but for multiple entries they've got to go with a woman. by the way, is Adele's return still just a rumor at this point or a done deal?

    Like whats been mentioned a few Posts up, a Duet Theme between Adele and Bassey would be excellent -{

Chris Cornell did a great job indeed, but had the help of music written by David Arnold, who could reinforce the melody throughout the score.

For Adele it sounds more like a leak than a rumour that Adele recorded a title song. But it doesn't mean the song will end up in the film. The producers could still go with another choice.

This has been rumored for some time. I remember it being leaked that she was going into the studio to record for this.

The Adele/Bassey idea is INSPIRED! I'd love it, but it would never happen.

I'm also a big fan of what Chris Cornell did.

Hmmmmm, a intersting article has just surfaced here in the U.S. Take it with a grain of salt if you'd like... I strongly suggest reading the whole article

After reading that, I wonder if Adele is singing the track

Interesting reading. :) whoever gets the gig, I do hope they work more of the
theme song into the film score. Watching SF last night I really enjoyed how the
Theme was used for Bond's arrival at the casino. -{ as it was done in so many
    of the older films.

The Sam Smith story is old news...I first read that nearly two months ago...I'm a little surprised it's doing the rounds again...I know they were hoping he'd not need surgery - or could put it back...but it's not to be...

I really don't like Sam Smith, and he doesn't have a Bond voice to me. I would love to see Arctic Monkeys do a theme, they did a great cover of DAF.

people also keep recommending muse. The thing is, they had there chance to do one during the brosnand era, and they blew it. Its up on youtube somewhere and its awful. even though their songs are usually good

I guess I'll give my recommendations: Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley, Norah Jones, Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Hell I'm not too big of a fan but I know Pharell and John Legend would do a great job, and they are more likely since they are popular.
