Never Say Never will Never be Thunderball

Anyone really struggle to watch this. It taints all Connery early Bond work and knowimg about the way McClory tried to take ownership of Bond his behaviour and the strain it put on Fleming and Cubby I would rather all copies of this spoof should be burned amd confined to room 101. The dialogue is poor & what bad shakey camera work.

I really dislike NSNA. It's really boring, lacking in action and the music
Is crap. :)) , I almost never watch it, when I do ( large parts are skipped)
the only Worse Bond is CR(67). :))

    Really??

I am with Thunderpussy I lose interest. It looks like a superman movie, I keep waiting for Bond to meet Lex Luther. Its a load of balls.

Thunderball is a far greater piece of adventure cinema.

If you don't like it….then don't watch it.

PS- I don't see any harm being done to Sean's reputation as 007. If anything he redeemed himself for D.A.F.

Apart from the music, I like better NSNA too. I'm glad that Connery came back that last time.

I loved it when it came out just for Connery, but now in retrospect it's kind of a mess of satire vs serious moments. The tone is incredibly uneven, the music is so wrong for a Bond movie, the pacing is slow near the end, and Bond winks at us. A fantastic Felix Leiter in the person of Bernie Casey and an intriguing nutcase provided by Barbara Carerra are its two biggest strengts IMHO.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

When I saw Never Say Never Again at the cinema on its release I thought it was OK. Maybe I was caught up in all the hype surrounding the 'Battle of the Bonds' because when I saw it again years later I could not believe how poor it was, a pale shadow of Thunderball in just about every department. Can't remember the last time I watched it in full, must be about twenty years ago.

I do like Edward Fox as M and Bernie Casey as Felix but that's it :#
I know many love Barbara Carrera but to me she really over acts, becoming
A pantomime villainess. Also once again the music is total crap, appalling
    In fact. :D

Barbara Carrera and Kim Basinger ring any bells? up there in my book with Auger and Paluzzi at the very least.

His prime was IMO DN-FRWL-GF,although I agree he's in much better shape than a year later in YOLT.

Even in 1983 that gadget looked very dated. The helmet, although obviously necessary for safety, makes Connery look really bad (that's why he isn't wearing one in the poster)

Disagree. Celi owns largo. He looks like s pirate - which is the essence of the character

    +1, I too prefer Celi as Largo. -{
In many ways I look at it like this if all the copies of
Thunderball were destroyed, I'd be very upset.
If all the copies of NSNA were lost, I wouldn't care. :))

If I'm allowed to come to defence of the soundtrack for a moment. At times it is slightly better than the atrocious Bill Conti music in the FYEO PTS. Obviously that's not saying much :)) and in general the Legrande score is far too close to elevator music for my liking, really no tension or menace at all.

Is that it? the eyepatch? and a pirate in a white tux?
I think Celi's Largo is mediocre at best. The least memorable villain of the 60s.
Brandauer's performance conveys real menace, as in the scene where he gives the necklace to Domino. It's a relaxed scene, they're laughing and playful, yet with a couple of Brandauer's simple gestures (the piano key, and the hand through his throat), while still laughing, you feel in your bones that Domino is trapped and in real danger.Brandauer is a fantastic actor.

I've always preferred the NSNA Soundtrack to the one in OP.

You mean the song, right? because Barry's OP soundtrack is one of the best in the whole series. Barry in top mid 80s form.

I wouldn't mind if the score was simply bland, but it's actually
Intrusive ! :# I know this is only my opinion, and if you like
It that's great, but to my ears it's just bloody awful. 8-)

I agree. The jazzy number in the bike chase for instance always puzzled me. Original, but totally out of place.
