Does anyone else feel, now he's comfortable in the role this was his best performance as bond even if the film is not considered by many as strong.

I think you can edit it from your original post.

    On Brosnan, yes I think TWINE is his best all round performance as Bond. -{

I'd agree that TWINE was Brosnan's best performance and was watching it again last night. Still, at the same time that he was getting comfortable it's easier now to see why he looks back with some regret. A lot of the sequences from Brosnan's films seem to come right out of the Moore era (as if Cubby and Co were trying to paper over the Dalton years) and the problem for Pierce was that he felt he had to / or was told to take everything seriously. Things worked for Moore because he played it all as a bit of a joke - as I think Connery did for his last few films. But Pierce had to grimace and frown and pout - when things were as absurd as they ever got in the series. Could he have done it differently? would it have worked?

In TWINE he is good, but in TND Brosnan is a little better imo

+1 If only Remington Steele didn't get picked up on the last contractual date and Brosnan had became bond as was first intended there would have been no Dalton and The chain of event may have been different. I think in TWINE he is a little more serious and forceful something Connery,Dalton & Craig had but Moore & Lazenby lacked a real aggression and urgency.

I can't agree goldeneye was fresh & exciting after a long wait, and you can only work with the screenplay you are given. My only issue with Brosnan was his accent wobbles between American & Irish. it's also my opinion Dalton & Brosnan never had the best supporting casts, stunning women but not perticularly good with the delivery. There is also a lot of the old cheesy comedy in Brosnan's films, again down to the script. Dan also did not have to contend with Cubby, Barbs understands the franchise had to reboot, she also appears to give Dan a voice in a lot of factors which Dalton & Brosnan didn't have the same level of input to their films.

I believe his best Bond performance was TNDs, he was tough, charming, suave, and at his deadliest.

I agree, though I really liked all his perfomances. DAD is watchable just for him (and Pike).
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I agree. And I believe Brosnan asked to get more room to actually act in The World is Not Enough. You can hear him mentioning it all the way back at his first press conference before GoldenEye was going to be made. He talked about what he wanted to bring to the character and how he wanted to "explore the inner demons" and "see what is underneath this characters skin" "what is driving him" (Stuff like that). His motivations towards the character were always genuine, he wanted to give it his everything. Like many people know, the bad scripts are largegly to blame for Brosnan ranking lower on a lot of people's lists.

Brosnan was strong in all his four movies. He also always seemed like he was enjoying himself. For me, TWINE or GE were probably his best performances, Goldeneye cemented his 'coolness', I mean come on, who wouldn't want to be Brosnan?
TWINE he came across with a bit of pathos and even dare I say vulnerability (but not to the extent of the Craig films)
Brosnan's strongest moments were his action scenes, he always looked like he was kicking ass with the most panache and style.

He certainly looked his best and did give a good performance, as he would do quite similarly in the other three he was in.

It's the most demanding script (of him) and the other actors around him also have to deliver strong performances. While there's plenty of action in TWINE, there's plenty of drama too.

I think it's one of the strongest performances by any of the Bond actors.

{[] the suits in TWINE are incredible, love the ties too.

I will say that Lazenby's suits and the way they fit his body in OHMSS is a runner up!

I'd go as far as to say Brosnan was, IMHO, the best dressed Bond

I think Brosnan was pretty consistent as Bond. He was excellent in GE, and he was still just as good in DAD. I think he as a character had a lot more to work with in TWINE, wheras he was more of just an action hero in his other three films.
