Very underwhelming. I hope it's just a rumour, it will be very easy to spot the resemblance in other case (for instance the interior - they may have changed the steering wheel or whatever but most of the things would probably stay the same).
However this would make sense, because in this case the cars were not that of a problem to create - remodelling the interior and fitting a new body is far less expensive then developing a car from the beginning.
The other thing that is bothering me is the fact that Bond was always driving flagship AM's (the V8 Vantage driven by Dalton was a flagship back in the time, right?). The DB10 will probably be the successor of the DB9, and more importantly - if it's based on the Vantage than Bond will be driving "the cheapest" Aston yet. :<

I was disappointed it wasn't the usual flagship production model, but seen first in the film. The DBS was perfect, and whilst far fetched that a "secret agent / spy / MI operative" would get them thrown at him, why not !
The car (DB10) seen will definitely be a mule, much as the DBS in CR was (DB9 with add ons to appear as the DBS would, especially the heavily used / cut up ones were).....
Its a beautiful looking thing, but not quite keeping the tradition of the Aston look (Merc influence ?).
As far as the "cheap Aston" goes, having been lucky enough to own a few (V8V / DB9 / DBS) my own view is even the V8v is a special car, to own and to drive. Much the same as a Ducati makes you feel special, everytime you open the garage door, start up the engine, drive it, be seen in it, park it, come back to it etc etc - You feel special !!!
They create a feeling, no other car (to me anyway) has ever done...
007 in a V8V - Yes please, would save my bank balance )
I very much doubt AM have scratch built a car just for the film. Marketing wise it doesn't make much sense, putting iconic mr bond in a car no one can buy...
Bare in mind that for tax purposes the vast majority of AM's used on screen end up scrapped as they're too costly to retain, either that or the car is totalled during filming.
My badly ed-yoo-k8-ed guess is that this very rare car will appear as a set dresser and not actually be used much at all.
I've been thinking the same thing. It costs hundreds of millions to develop a new car, so why only make ten? Even at a million a piece, you're not going to come close to recovering even a fraction of your research and development costs. Unless this is all a ruse. Ten of these DB10s have been made for Spectre all gizmoed-up with whatever fanciful tricks the story requires. Ejection seats, underwater capability...whatever. The DB10 will be released to the public later but obviously not with the Bond gadgets.
It only costs hundreds of millions if you are going into series production with the model. If not, as they have stated, it is the equivalent of the company building a few models (and comparatively not expensive at all - yet one of the best marketing tools they could ask for), they do not need to be road legal and actually do not even need to work, it is purely for the screen and the magic that is film that will make it look real.
Well a good example of a rolling chassis would be the land rover taxi in judge dredd, a 110 chassis with a fibre glass body on it.
However, with a car like bonds you're gonna need more detail, interior etc. and if this 'new aston' is really a proper car made just for the film, why? What's the point?
Let's not forget that the Z3 in GE wasnt a standard production car, or the Z8 in TWINE, that was made by the effects crew, plus the Astons and Jaguars in DAD were virtually made by the crew too. Ie, if the crew needed a 'new aston' for bond, they're easily capable of doing it themselves.
The DBS in CR was a modified DB9 too, so it makes sense for AM to modify an existing platform with a new shell on, but I really can't believe any car company would build a brand new model from scratch just for a film, it just doesn't make sense.
If all DBS's in Casino Royale were modified DB9's than it's funny, cause the model used in the movie looks better than the production car! (shinny wheels, red interior accents, different interior trimming, different exhausts etc.)
HOWEVER that was possible because of the close resemblance between the DB9 and the DBS, the DBS looks like a DB9 on steroids so it wasn't that hard to fool the audience that they were using a different car. In this case it will not be that easy as the DB10 looks totally different from the Vantage naturally.
As for owning an Aston - you lucky bastard! I will probably never get my hands on the DBS so I really envy you. I'm sure it's a special feeling to have any kind of Aston in the garage, but for the Bond movie it should have been a flagship model as it always was! Craig owns a V8 Vantage himself so maybe he persuaded the producers that it's good enough for Bond?

The one in CR was a pre-production DBS, things like the white quilt cross stitch didn't make in to production unfortunately. The car park scene was this one. Others in the film were modified DB9's, steel bodywork rather than carbon etc etc.
I believe DC has a red V12V roadster presently ??? Though he may hold older ones too.....
If you look up the Vantage Magazine, my Casino Royale DBS is in the readers articles after I took it around Lake Garda, issue 4 or 5
I can see what he means, from certain angles, it does rather look like they forgot to put a boot/trunk on it 8-)
but hey im not a car designer so what do I know
I think this is a car that we'll have to see moving or in person as from almost every angle but that promo shot it doesn't look that great. At least to me. But most good cars look even better in person so that might be a knock too against the DB10. Which I wish they would name something different since they are only making 10. At least for now. I assume the production DB10 will be called DB11 if they skip again like they did the DB8.

I agree completely. With the proper lighting and movement this car could look different on film. Pictures and even video don't do some cars any justice.
Top Gear interview with Aston design boss Marek Reichman for the inside line on the 'Spectre' star. "Sam Mendes wanted this to be the poster car for every boy who watches James Bond for the first time. My interpretation of that was that Sam was talking about a brand new DB5."
Very interesting read, Moore Than, thanks for sharing.
Seems that none of these cars will be available for sale which is a shame for future generations of collectors.
We may get flooded with model cars, but would be great to see pictures from the real car now and then.
I assume that at least one DB10 will stay in pristine condition in AML's museum or with EON at least.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Yep, it's a racing colour, Top Gear explained it as the first international
Car race ( or some such thing) was held in Ireland, so in honour of the
Host country Britain chose Green as their Racing colour.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I notice that the wheels, as well as being rather lovely, also form a gun barrel spiral at the centre.
Very nice touch.
Not sure if I really like this. It's a bit like an Omega watch with the 007 logo on the secondhand
There's nothing in the wheels' design suggesting it is related to the gunbarrel. There are ten spokes which look like blades, straight and not curved like spiral arms; five of the spokes go right to the hub, the other five ending a little earlier. Similar to the 1967/68 Shelby Mustang 10-spoke wheel, with no relation to the gunbarrel. But it could be too subtle to be picked up by me. Or maybe you are imagining things.
Regarding the Top Gear interview: He's particularly proud of the DB10's front end, a front end apparently inspired, in deliciously Bond-villain fashion, by frickin' SHARKS. "The grille doesn't sit on the upper surface in any way," Marek explains. "It's all on a negative surface, like a shark's face. This car has the lowest nose that we've ever produced."
Wow, a car inspired by a shark - how innovative! The Corvette Mako Shark concept is only 53 years old ...

Perhaps a somewhat old fashion remark. Why is it not racing green?
Racing Green or British Racing Green is more traditionally a Jaguar colour, not one very often used on Aston Martins.
I have become a big fan of Pixar's cars films. In doing some research, I found Aston Martin had a DBR9S, racing number nine, in racing green. In Cars 2, he is anthropomorphised as Nigel Gearsley. One of only three vehicles that are a deliberate direct representation via the manufacturer of a racing vehicle in the films. All the others are combinations or approximations.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Ha ha I am glad someone picked up on that. That very DBR9S is why I said "not one very often used on Aston Martins". :007)

A video of the DB10 with sound surfaced on Instagram. Sounds great. And it seems that the steering wheel is on the right side like in the DB5 (I haven't noticed that before).
GUys, not sure if this is true , but i read somewhere online that Hotwheels has already started to take PO's for the DB10 diecast and it will be a 1:18 scale. Is this true ? if so would you guys know where we can PO it?
Cheers

I like it that the steering wheel is on the right, maybe a race/chase scene in England? But don't like the design of the car. I like the DBs way, way, way more, that was a gentleman car, this is just a pure racing. It's nice to see Bond in a new Aston, maybe it will look cool or better in the movie than on the videos/photos I've seen. Sadly that they didn't use the new Vanquish, would be a nice wink to the past and a beautiful car for Bond.
