    I agree HTH, Sean Bean made a wonderful villain. {[]

    Seconded. :) -{
    I would argue that his menace & hatred were the biggest strength of GE...

    Popped AVTAK in my blu ray player again today. I end up just skipping around and watching the scenes I like (particularly the last half hour) but most of the movie is just a mess.

    How can you watch the scene, if you're skipping around, AC.
    sit down, properly and watch the film.. ;)

    Well, when I'm in a scene I like, I watch that scene in full. What I don't do is put myself through scenes I don't like just for completionism.

    The first part of the film in France is all fantastic. Try watching the whole film again to see that it's not a mess.

    Well, I just watched it in full (a 2nd time), like 5 or 6 weeks ago. And I thought it was a weak movie then. I just watched it today for the Max Zorin scenes.

    Generally speaking, I can see where people are coming from with popular opinions on the bond films - I can see why GF, FRWL, and TSWLM are so popular. I can see why DAD, TMWTGG, and MR are unpopular. But I really, really, cannot see why AVTAK is so unpopular. So Roger Moore is old, so Stacey can be annoying, so what? As if that ruins a completely otherwise fine film. Plus it has the best villain and the best locations of all bond films.
    1 - LALD, 2 - AVTAK, 3 - LTK, 4 - OP, 5 - NTTD, 6 - FYEO, 7 - SF, 8 - DN, 9 - DAF, 10 - TSWLM, 11 - OHMSS, 12 - TMWTGG, 13 - GE, 14 - MR, 15 - TLD, 16 - YOLT, 17 - GF, 18 - DAD, 19 - TWINE, 20 - SP, 21 - TND, 22 - FRWL, 23 - TB, 24 - CR, 25 - QOS

    I remember seeing AVTAK in 1985 and thinking 'I should really be hating this movie, but I'm really liking it.' This has always seemed like my guilty pleasure among the Bond films.

    I guess the investors were arrested as aids to manslaughter......

    Funny how no one noticed they going into city hall with gas canisters :#

    Howe's death wasn't really sad as he prolly was in Zorins pocket , surely he must've known something was fishy with the mine , enormous loads of explosives ?

    W.G. Howe was Zorin's paid "yes-man", certainly.

    That's why Stacey was fired , she was too nosy re : Zorins oil pumps & Howe feared Zorin would cut off his bribe money , makes sence.
  • GrindelwaldGrindelwald Posts: 1,341MI6 Agent
    Mortner was obviously not thinking cleary : why not walk over to Bond and Stacey shooting them point blank range , sure he might've missed a bullet or two but not all 6 ;)

    Also no one on Golden Gate notices what's happening at the top , surely there would've been traffic jams and cars jamming into each other ?

    (it's actually more realistic in Masters of Universe when Skeletor comes to Earth , it's plausible that it was very late in the evening , maybe 10-11PM and thus there were almost no people outside when Skelly arrived , stretching the credibility a bit perhaps but still plausible considering the time of day/people going to bed)

    I thought he fired Stacey, because he couldn't take her annoying
    voice anymore. ;)

    Yes the music is fantastic and deserves to be in a better film. What about Christopher Walken as another pro? I am not much of a fan of AVTAK myself but I thought he was great in it -{

    To give Mortner the benefit of the doubt : I tried to walk over the Bern bridge and let me tell you even at only 50 metres it made me unsettled so Mortner not wanting to set his foot up there at 220 metres isn't farfetched :#

    Let me ask: which is a better Bond movie- AVTAK or NSNA?
    Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

    AVTAK. NSNA isn't such a great movie, and it's not a Bond movie either, so I don't like comparing it to Bond movies.

    NSNA for me feels like a cheap version of TB: no standout locations, no dangerous villains, missing of nearly every Bond element.
    OP is the contrary and therefore I like it better.

    AVTAK is a better film than NSNA in my opinion.
    I watched NSNA the other day for the first time in a while and if I did include it in my own Bond film ranking (which I don't) it would probably be bottom of the list. But having said that I quite enjoyed watching it, it's just that I enjoy watching all the Bond films so much. -{

    NSNA is the Only Bond I got bored watching. Even
    Now, I tend to skip large parts of it. ?:)
