strange way to watch a Bond movie...well hardly a movie anymore
True .... however, I have seen it completely many times so unlike some of the other Bond films, I only watch the parts of AVTAK that I find interesting
The film has many negatives (including probably the worst set of Bond girls, PTS, ....), however, like all Bond films it is still entertaining - Zorin is pretty good, the song by Duran Duran is awesome, and ofc the sequence at the Golden Gate Bridge, etc.
I think the biggest problem with AVTAK is that it just feels a little tired, somewhere in the middle of a pretty good Bond film is the lacking of energy. I remember watching this with my girlfriend and she said she didn't like the film as much as others, and I asked her why, she didn't have anything specific, but said it just lacked something.
IMO there is nothing wrong with AVTAK, it does the job, but in comparison with other Bond films it doesn't do anything outstanding. This maybe the reason why I enjoy AVTAK and don't have it at the bottom of my list.
I think just the opposite. AVTAK comes forward with some of the most beautiful locations there are, the story is the usual good Bond stuff, we have an amazing cast that works well and IMO Roger Moore gives a great last performance. I really think it's his best!

I do love AVTAK. When I first joined this forum, I was genuinely shocked to find out that it is cited as one of the worst. I really don't see many flaws in it, and the flaws it does have, are only small. I think it is completely, unfairly bashed on.

It was as if the film-makers ran out of interesting ideas. Like you said, the film has many of the Bond elements (which are great), however, it does not have many sequences that stand out. The Golden Gate Bridge Sequence too was similar to what happens in Octopussy where the villain abducts the leading lady and Bond jumps to the rescue
Also it appears as if the girls in the film were forced to be with Bond - Kimberly Jones stuck with him in the mini-sub, May Day and Ivanova having to go through the routine for their goals, etc. )

I get the feeling that the idea was to create something that was similar to FYEO - just a basic movie that had a good story without all the flash bang elements - also something that could fit Roger being a bit older.
Probably the reason why I like AVTAK is that it has quite a bit of dialogue and acting - versus loads of non-stop action - which is what OP essentially is.
I don't think Stacy was all that annoying at all. But then I like Christmas for similar aesthetic reasons...

Yeah Stacey to me is fine, she's gorgeous. Plus her story for being involved with Zorin isn't too bad - at least as opposed to Christmas her job is a little more believable.
Stacey just sounds like a little girl when she's talking about geology.
At least with Dr. Jones I can have a fun time and I think she has a charm to her.

Similar characters, like Stacey Sutton, are at least funny rather than annoying (to me anyway!), and at least attractive. Some people's criticisms of Stacey are my criticisms of Kara, if that makes sense. The only remotely interesting thing about Kara is that she plays the cello. That's it really, and I think she is the weakest aspect of TLD (Well, her or Brad Whittaker).
Jinx though... I just hate her. Poorest dialogue in the series, character is absurd and cartoon-like, her delivery of lines is really cheesey and cringeworthy, and as an added bonus I don't even fancy her.

I love it. It might be my favourite main bond theme. Very catchy and memorable.
However, my favourite ever song from a bond film is "If You Asked Me To" from the end of LTK. I just think it's a really nice tune.
