I guess due to them getting the go ahead for Casino Royale etc Brozzers days were numbered due to his age and the story. Guess they could have delayed CR by a movie however sounds like there are two sides to the story as a few times read about Brozzer wanting a pay rise (then again cant blame him)
Getting the rights to CR and wanting to make CR had alone should have not ruled out Brosnan. Nothing in Fleming's CR story would have made Brosnan too old for CR. Bond was not a new agent in the CR novel, and the origin story elements in the film are unique to the film. MGW wanted to do a reboot (which Cubby previously got in the way of doing), and he used the excuse that since CR is the first novel, the film should to be about Bond's origins. The film's story being a reboot and Bond's first mission has nothing to do with getting the rights to CR. I think there would have been a reboot whether or not they got the rights to film CR.
True but isn't his age revealed to be mid to late 30's later in the books
EDIT (no time to dig out my books to see if true so a quick google - dont take this as gospel)
Moonraker implies he was 37 in 1954 (he has 8 years until he loses his 00 status at age 45) making his birth year 1917.
As Casino Royale takes place in 1951 or 1952 he was 36.
So Brosnan should have been thrown out his second film, Moore after his first and Craig after his third. And going by this, Craig was also too old to be Bond in CR (which is my opinion based on the film being Bond's first mission). Bond's age in the story isn't all that relevant.
Brozzer was cut at the right time, he (respectfully) looked too old and I think would have been doing a Moore and Connery (DAF) if he did another a few years later.
DC prob has another in him as keeps himself in shape and believable physically.
I agree Bonds age is not all that relevant - I would say physicality is more important - but obviously bit of both was required for the CR script
A duo of low-budget Canadian film-makers have announced plans to remake the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, thanks to a loophole in copyright laws.
Yes, that was a lovely idea - it was mentioned in passing on the BBC Breakfast News this morning. The ever-reliable Dame Judi Dench and Sir Roger Moore were among those Bond luminaries in attendance. -{
