How long. . .

HardyboyHardyboy Posts: 5,906Chief of Staff
This is a completely cynical question, but I can be pretty cynical, so here goes. . . How long before the complaints start? I mean the people who chime in on whatever miniscule piece of news there is, or--more often than not--no news and start saying, "This movie's gonna suck," "This will be the worst film in the series," "This betrays everything James Bond is about," "This is just a ripoff the Bourne movies," etc., etc., etc. We've been a pretty happy group of late, but I can't believe these good feelings will last. There I go again. . .being cynical. . .but again: when will the rumblings be heard?

    It's already started, Hardyboy! We've had people complaining that Blofeld/Spectre are back because, a) It's going to be farcical like Austen Powers, and/or b)They'll make Blofeld/Spectre too serious, too dark, too 'now' and it will spoil the character and the organisation.

    And then there were the complaints about DC's pullover!

    Of course there are going to be complaints and concerns as well as compliments and optimism. People don't check their individuality at the door just because they are fans of something. To me, this is a good thing. It inspires debate and discussion. How trivial a site like this would be if everyone was demonstrating groupthink.

    I think we're all passionate about Bond...So we are going to have our 'dream scenario' and no doubt get disappointed when rumours say something different. It's just a matter of seeing the good, rather than being super critical... but it all comes from the same place, a true love of Bond!

    At the end of the day, that's all that matters, right? We all love Bond or we wouldn't be here (except, I guess, for the trolls that get quickly cleaned out, thank goodness). I'm glad to be among so many great fans, even if we do not always agree with one another.

    For once I agree, I too am fed up with the remake of OHMSS comments. -{
    As for Craig Jumper, that's just " Slag off" Craig people, if he'd worn a suit.

    No, its because people aren't able to identify a decent put together outfit, that linked Skyfall... 8-)

    Well if that's your idea of a remake, then I can rest easy about SPECTRE - there's nothing to worry about! :D

    I'm amazed at the number of people who apparently have gripes about a film that has only just started to be shot! Can't these people just be happy at the thought that we're getting a new film to see?!

    Personally, I think 'too dark' is a compliment. For a Bond film, it can never be 'too dark' unless it is darker even than Fleming's novels, and so far that standard hasn't quite been reached.

    Casino Royale and Skyfall are brilliant. If SPECTRE is as good as those two (and at least as dark), I'll like it. Oh, and bring the gunbarrel sequence back where it belongs - right at the start, along with the traditional, unaltered fanfare. And get Dame Shirley Bassey to sing the Bond theme.

    See? I have a very short wishlist.

    I think I've finally learned to have a bit of faith in the producers.

    They've never made a truely dreadful film and the biggest gripe I ever had was the casting of Daniel Craig and look how that worked out!!

    I did laugh at the Xmas Jumper jokes though Sir Miles ;%
