I'm only 22 but I write very old fashioned, hence
why so many think I'm much older. ;)

It's the way of things; my Mom & Dad's generation was spoiled with indoor plumbing, mine was spoiled with TV, and your's & my Son's is spoiled with internet. :D

    Can't argue with that...

    Pros:

    Excellent villains (Grant & Klebb)
    Connery is good as always
    Good storyline
    Nice locations
    Train scene is excellent

    Cons:

First half is a bit dull
Could have done without the Gypsy camp scene, the film would be a bit shorter and better for it
The James Bond theme blaring away whilst he just mills around his hotel room? (not exactly a con, but it seemed out of place to me).
  • AlphaOmegaSinAlphaOmegaSin EnglandPosts: 10,926MI6 Agent
    I think that the Bond Theme accompanies that Scene very well -{

Using the Bond theme in that scene was probably Peter Hunt's decision, as was the use of a few bars of "Death Of Dr No" during the helicopter sequence. He didn't have much choice, since John Barry had to move to his next film ("Zulu", IIRC) with FRWL going a bit over schedule.

And really, if that's the worst part of a Bond movie that tells you it's pretty damn perfect!

Likewise. I don't get the criticism for the use of the Bond theme in that scene. He wasn't 'milling around' in his hotel room, he was searching for bugs, and the theme hits a crescendo as Bond found one behind the painting.

It makes perfect sense to me.

A few other pluses regarding FRWL

Karim Bey is the best sidekick

The visuals are excellent, they really tell the story

Robert Shaw makes the best Bond villain

I've always felt sorry for Tania. Everybody, including Bond, used her for the own purposes.

There was some talk of misogyny earlier on and I think the books do a great job explaining and showing us that Bond was a misogynist. I think the directors and writers try to portray that heavily in the movies to the overwhelming majority of people who have not read the books.
