Lol! Nice one Capt Scarlet!
Alice Eve looks a lot like the lovely lady who plays the hotel receptionist in the Bahamas in CR-06. Although she did a decent job of playing Dr Marcus (baps and all) in Star Trek - Age of Recycling, she lacks something as far as MPenny is concerned. Can't place it, but I just feel it wouldn't work.
Naomie Harris has a cheeky playfulness and vitality that was present even when she was a teenager in The 1990's version of the tomorrow people! I am not being pervy, she is only a year younger than me. I refer to her take on M's aide as "EMP," because she provides an energy, vitality and sharp wit that is engaging and fun. Also she is good with a gun, as seen in the big shoot up enquiry scene in SF. Good to see Mallory / M is a dab hand with a pistol too. Ms Harris is A worthy addition alongside Samantha Bond, Caroline Bliss and of course the legendary and much missed Lois Maxwell. Here's hoping her association with Eon on Bond is a long one.
As an aside, watching Downton Abbey is always good, but when Ms Bond appears as Lady Rosamund
(Esp in scenes with Dame Maggie as the Dower Countess,) you know you are on to a winner!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Why do you think that Alice Eve should have been chosen instead ?
I absolutely agree that Naomie Harris did a fine job in Skyfall. Skyfall was great but a few scenes definitely should have been cut out. I think that the subplot of her being a field agent and then later becoming a secretary was an unnecessary addition. Traditionally, Miss Moneypenny only has a brief scene each film. That being said, the implied sexual relations between her and Bond takes away from the movie (the great part about her character is the banter/flirting between her and Bond creates sexual tension but they never actually hookup). This changes her role in the movies for the future. Instead of her appearing briefly in Spectre, she will most likely have the same amount of screen time as she did in Skyfall (she was a part of the main cast on stage during the official announcement). If not, then the writers will have essentially downgraded her role into a glorified cameo reminding viewers of a past encounter between her and Bond, and not having a new character arc. While Naomie Harris is definitely more believable as a field agent than Alice Eve will ever be, Alice Eve would have had better chemistry with Daniel Craig showing up in her one scene each film. She is better at being witty and charming, as the character has always been. Nothing from her character is expected in terms of development which would help the movie from being bloated with unnecessary subplots. Given the writers choice of the storyline, the producers did right by choosing Naomie Harris. Originally however, I think that they should have changed the script and kept Miss Moneypenny the way she always has been. Alice Eve would have been great in that regard.
I thought the on-screen chemistry between NH & DC was excellent in Skyfall.
I agree! We can't know for sure how Alice Eve or anyone else would have done in the part, but what we do know is that Ms. Harris did just fine. -{

I think the Miss Moneypenny storyline from Skyfall was a great addition...it brings an extra layer to the character...and I very much doubt she will be given the same screen time in SPECTRE...but, well..I won't add anything more as its a spoiler...
There was no proof of a 'hook up' between Bond & Moneypenny - so the sexual tension is still in place...
Naomi Harris is great as Moneypenny...I look forward to seeing more of her in SPECTRE -{

Naomi Harris was the perfect cast for a XXI century Moneypenny. Alice Eve is too voluptuous, it wouldn't be believable that Bond doesn't want to have sex with her after the little innuendos. Harris is sexy, but more girl next door type.
I think Bond respected her far too much as a colleague and friend to

"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Alice Eve is a lovely actress, but the poster who said she'd be too voluptuous is spot on. For our 21st Century Bond we needed a 21st Century looking secretary. I'm in and out of offices all the time and most of them occupy the same look of professionalism that Naomi Harris does. Remember they're generally called Personal Assistants these days! The idea of a Mad Men style secretary has long gone.
The comments made about Moneypenny's role however are more interesting. I too wasn't over happy with the way her relationship with 007 was interpreted for Skyfall. I felt it was too obvious, lacking subtlety and humour, and it was ultimately completely unnecessary to the plot. Any woman / man character could have filled for her scenes without the slightest change in the narrative. All that suggestive shaving was about as erotic as a kick in the teeth and could easily have been binned. I agree, the change in their friendship opens the doors for more Moneypenny and less of the 'second' girl [the victim] and that may not be good thing.

Alice Eve would make a good Mary Goodnight IMO

That's fine, of course. To me, she looks catty, untrustworthy, more devious than smart. But to each their own. I think she'd be better playing a seductress who tries to manipulate Bond.

I think the producers made the right choice in Naomi Harris.

IMO she brings plenty to the party & will give Bond a run for his money (so to speak), bringing a nice touch back to the films.
Only downside is that she really reminds me of my ex wife! )

Yep! And I'm pretty sure Bond wanted to have sex with Harris's Moneypenny! Good thing she had a razor at his neck! )

I'm quite sure Bond did in fact have sex with her. However, they hadn't been formally introduced, and the context was not a cold office.

I disagree. While I like Naomi, I think Alice Eve looks smart and sweet.
The key to Moneypenny is likeability. She must trade quips with 007 but there mustn't be any competitive edge there. They must both work as a team.
And Naomi Harries has that in bucketloads - as does Q
