Bond Elements you Need (or just crave)

chrisisallchrisisall Western Mass, USAPosts: 9,062MI6 Agent
Mine:
1. Gunbarrel. AT THE BEGINNING. Smooth (not drippy) cartoon (not CGI) blood.
2. One or more space shots (Weapon, satellite, just Earth, whatever).
3. Aston Martin. Not the DB5. Not all the time, anyway. But one. That does stuff.
4. Henchman or villain that poses a physical threat to Bond.
5. Barry Bond theme. Often.
6. A submarine. Not necessarily featured, but somewhere.
7. One or more martial encounters.
8. One or more innuendos.
9. A beach -OR- a snow covered mountain -OR- a strange geological area + London.
10. Broccoli (what we used to call hot girls in college).
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

My favorite part of every film is when Bond is seconds away from death but he finds a way out of it each and every time. Like the laser scene in Goldfinger for example. There are better ones though.
1: Casino Royale 2: Goldeneye 3: Skyfall 4: Octopussy 5: Goldfinger 6: Tomorrow Never Dies 7: The World Is Not Enough 8: The Living Daylights 9: From Russia With Love 10: The Spy Who Loved Me

    Why thank you sir! :007)
PS- What is a martial encounter ?
Sorry, in plainer language, a kick a*s fight scene.

And on a VERY personal John Glen level, an animal scare is always appreciated! :))

Great list, Chris, completely agree. But everything's better with lasers! :))

Based on your list, GE springs to mind.

Your boy Dalton had one of the best ever in LTK when he spear-gunned the float plane and was quickly yanked away from a bad situation.

Gunbarrel at the end? Fine, doesn't mess with the story. Not bothered if the gunbarrel isn't seen again.
    chrisisall wrote:

Not like the DAD shots. To be honest leave the space shots to Star Wars.

We've seen the new Aston. We know its going to be there

We know we have got Mr Hinx. Lets see if they can pull out an intelligent story with him.

If it fits with the film then use it. Dont pummel us with the Bond theme.

We had that in QoS with Mitch and SF with Patrice

Not the Roger Moore years again or the Brosnans. I can do without that.
    chrisisall wrote:

CR had beach scenes. London worked because it was so unexpected with the tube, senior meeting

Monica Bellucci and the other are hot girls. There will always be hot girls.

Actually, to hear the 007 theme again would be a welcome/pleasant surprise, as it has not been used since Moonraker. I would rather hear that than have the Bond theme pummel away.

little bond quips and moments, for example the cuff adjusting bit on the train in SF was good.

more barry theme moments, for me SF's soundtrack didn't sound at all bondian, it could have been from anything. that signauture tune needs to be heard more often.

gadgets, proper funky gadgets, with hints of andy smith and nick finlayson added in for good measure.

no space anything. no space walks, lasers, death rays or space stations. with star wars coming out just after bond, it'd be a MR car crash all over again.

Abso-bloody-lutely. This is non-negotiable, as far a I'm concerned, along with the traditional fanfare to open the film.
    chrisisall wrote:

This too. And I don't want any remixes of the original. I cannot stand electronic music. Just have the original Bond theme as it was meant to be, playing frequently throughout the film.
    chrisisall wrote:

Yep. But fewer stunts. Bond is great at hand to hand combat and is a crack shot, but he hasn't been documented as having the ability to leap from crane to crane, nor from building to building. I want to see Bond at close quarters combat, but not implausible stunts.

The rest I can do without - even the Aston. I'd prefer a Bentley.

I like some of the tiny details that are pure Fleming

E.g. Detail on the luxurious foods and drink and deeper conversation / banter with the main villain

As for DC specifically I think his performance with the females is poor for Bond standards, maybe SPECTRE will address this :D

That's not terribly high on my own list, but it does add to the self destructive nature of the character I guess. Dalton smoked in his movies without making it look like s 60's cigarette advert...

When I first saw CR and Bond running for 10 minutes straight at full gallop I realized this is a VERY different Bond, a non-smoking triathelete. A gym rat. A true action hero.

I hope so. It's part of who he is. He drinks and smokes heavily, and as chrisisall observed:
    chrisisall wrote:

That's the Bond I know from the novels, and the Bond I want to see on screen.
