QOS vs. November Man

I was curious which small-ish fast-paced spy flick people on here liked better.

QOS is my favourite Bond film of this Century- lots of intensity & character.
November Man is fresh & terribly brutal at times.
Both feature Olga as the leading lady, and her characters in both are remarkably similar.
QOS had a budget of like 200 mil.
November Man's was about 15 mil.
I think it's pretty gorram remarkable that two films I personally rate SO close together in terms of entertainment value are SO widely separated in production budget.

Bottom line: both rock my spy world. Which is better? That's close.
Too close for comfort. :))
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

    just saw November man last week...really enjoyed it! wish they would have allowed PB to play bond that way. that said I would still give it to QOS. reasons Daniel Craig, it's Bond, also I had no idea the November man was a series of books

    As a Bond fan , QOS, Obviously. :)) although the November man is a brilliant
    Thriller, and shows how " Dark" Brosnan's Bond could have been. -{

    I suppose I have to lean that way myself, but November Man was pretty bloody well made!

    I have to disagree with my own last post. I actually prefer NM. It's really just that well made.

    Loved November Man - but it is just not Bond!
    QOS even though some think a weak entry to the series gets my vote.

    If it weren't Brosnan, I'd fully agree... but there IS a touch of Bond there IMO! :007)

    Though I really liked NM and wanted it to be more Bond-like, QOS definitely gets my vote! The entire time I was watching NM I was thinking the same thing as hotcrossedbond...that it sure would have been great if Brosnan's Bond had been more like Devereaux. Both great films!

    I often think about these huge budgets and agree the difference is astonishing and does make you wonder!!!!

    I thought November Man was superb!! I heard a sequel is in the works (which suprised me since the original was very low key) or was this planned before the box office disaster? The whole release of November Man was quite a mess.

    If Brosnan had played Bond like this then who knows - might not of been popular as the Bond he portayed but would have been fantastic for my taste

    I posted before that I have a feeling that Brosnan is deliberately, choosing
    to play a few darker/harder edged characters, almost to show how he could
    Have played Bond, if they had decided to go in that direction.
    In Survivor, he plays the villain, a world class hit man and does a few nasty
    Killings. These films may be small budget but I do think Brosnan is choosing to
    Do them for a reason, as he's not short of a few quid and could easily churn out
    a few easy going comedies. ;)

    It was going to be about Bonds final Outing being retirement. And it was apparently going to be in Black and White.

    Despite Brosnan being behind it, there's no Proof that he was ever approached by EON to direct it.

    Yeah I think it was a project they wanted to propose to EON

    Black and white? They prob would have never got past "hello" at any meeting :D

    Although Tarantino seems to have the ability to get some great and
    different performances out of his actors. -{

    He's an Artsy Director, so it would be fascinating to see what he could do with a Bond Film -{

    Quantum of Solace is more polished, though given the vast difference in budgets, I don't think it's 15 times more polished. It's not even twice as polished. Because of that, I would give a slight nod to November Man. Had they been roughly equal in this respect, it would go to Quantum of Solace. There is a good Bond film in there; it's just much of it ended up on the cutting room floor or never filmed.

    NM was too violent for my tastes, so I'll take QoS. When comparing the two films, it makes me appreciate QoS more. It seems as if Brosnan tried to play his character in that film as far from his Bond as he could. The biggest difference between Devereaux and Bond is that Bond doesn't hurt innocent people. If Brosnan played the Bond character more with the attitude he does in NM his Bond films would be more popular now.

    On a similar vein of thought.

    How good would Charles Grey's portrayl of Blofeld have been in DAF, if he had been allowed to play it like his character "Mocata" in "The Devil Rides Out".

    {[] Oh Absolutely. :) Charles Grey could play " Menace" very well in deed. Sadly I have a feeling
    All the actors were told to play it light, to have fun. :#
