I find Tina Turner's song quite addictive, and it just works so well after that plane stunt.
When you hear that *dandandandan*, you know the rest of the movie will be quite the thrill ride.
Completely agree, it really adds to the PTS. It's the same with the scene directly after involving a car-chase - it's all pieced together very well.
Tina's song is well done, but lacks a bit of originality - it sounds epic though.
It is a bit reminiscent of Bassey's "Goldfinger", but that doesn't really bother me.
If anything, I find Tina's song more relistenable than Bassey's.
Bassey was a great singer, there's no question about that, but for some reason I don't find the song as revisitable as some of the other Bond songs.
I think I even prefer "A View to a Kill" to it.

What do you guys think about the fact that Bond here is very deferential to women?
Examples:
1) Bond stops the Aston Martin when the assistant tells him, and then tells her (if I got it right) "I've got no problems with female authority."
2) When Natalya tells James something on the train (I don't remember it clearly), he tells her "Yes sir."
Just something I found interesting on my latest viewing of the film.

Where Connery's Bond clearly manifested an outright misogyny.
I guess in the 90's, the guys at EON were clear that Bond needed to treat women better.
Not that I hate the Connery Era for its misogyny, as GF is one of my all-time fave Bond films.

Brosnan's Bond had some respect for women. Why he's sometimes disliked I guess...
At first he didn't have much respect for the new M, and it was implied the reason for that was because M was a woman. But that soon went away. He didn't get along with Natalya, but he showed her respect. He's more often accused of disrespecting women than he actually shows disrespect for them. Like when Bond tells Wai Lin to get on the back of the bike and she condescendingly responds, "Why? Are you trying to protect me?" and Bond replies, "No, I need to balance the bike."
I just love the action in the movie, it's a fun ride for me.
I also find interesting how the movie flows with Campbell's direction. It just goes from one scene to another without dragging, at least for me.
He achieved this sort of flow with CR as well. Even if I'm not a huge fan of CR, I will admit that it doesn't drag thanks to Campbell's directing.

I will say, how come we hear a gun go off when Ourumov "kills" Trevelyan, and yet Trevelyan survives?
It occurs to me that maybe someone else fired in that scene, thus making it look like it was Ourumov who shot Trevelyan.
I do love the way Ourumov says to Bond "You can't win" before Bond gets on the conveyor belt, fires his machine gun, and makes the drums fall on the soldiers (at least I think they're drums).

Pros:
* The PTS is one of my favs
* Aston - Ferrari race sequences
* Tank chase
Cons:
* How Onatopp's character is portrayed appears even more comical now (Austinpoweresque esp. when she is shooting)
* Natalaya's character has a role to play but in its portrayal felt as if something is missing. Many times, felt like skipping when she is on screen
* "IBM" computers remind us that the film is over 20 years old now
This one used to be in my top 15. However, the movie appears to have lost some of its shine. Earlier it looked brilliant throughout but now it appears to be good to great in parts. I suspect that it may drop down the list.
I watched the film earlier today, and I enjoyed it. It is one of the films that a couple of years ago I avoided watching, but nowadays I find it creeping up my list. Is the Bros film that I enjoy the most, and is now in my top 10
