Alternative death scene for Scaramanga

I delved deeply into some treasures on Disc 2 of TMWTGG ultimate edition DVD. Check out the Christmas trailer for the film: it has a clip from the duel with Bond and Scaramanga exchanging words while taking refuge behind some rocks on the beach. Bond is holding something that looks like a silver thermos, (gas canister?) and he throws it towards Scaramanga and then shoots it in mid-air causing a big explosion.

Sadly, there are no deleted scenes available and M. Wilson says surviving footage from the film is rare.

How do you feel about the final version of Scaramanga's death? I heard one fan complain that it was too obviously foreshadowed in the pre-title sequence, although I can't recall predicting the ending on my first viewing.

When Bond dropped his pistol on the scaffolding, did he find it or did the 007 wax mannequin come equipped with a loaded PPK ?

I've always thought bond was quite clever for how he killed Scaramanga.

It's a clever way of outsmarting Scaramanga, and it works for me. I did not foreshadow that ending the first time I watched the PTS.

As for the PPK? Bond is on his way down the scaffolding when he drops it. I assume he finds it when he gets to the bottom.

I don't think that it was supposed to be a Death Scene -{ As for that final Scene, it's still very tense and the Music just adds to it

It's a shame they cut these scenes from the finished film. It really made it seem and feel more dramatic.

I was quite happy with the death scene. The only thing I wish they did was make it 20 minute fight instead of a 5 minute fight. It had the potential to be as memorable as the burning house in Skyfall or the train in FRWL.

Agreed, if they had made it more of a cat and mouse chase
Round the island. With Scaramanga laughing as Bond used
Up his bullets, until at the end they only have one bullet each !

I still reckon that Bond climbed down for his Walther, because it's implausible that the Dummy would be holding a real one -{

You know how obsessive some collectors can be ( look at AJB) )
So I could see Scaramanga having a working ppk on his Bond
Wax figure.
Because when he was showing it off, it would be cutting to hear
" Oh, it's only a replica " Scaramanga couldn't stand that !
