I think there are two clearly defined eras regarding sexism in Bond movies.
The first is clearly sexist, Mad Man series type of sexism that simply reflects the times movies were made. That would go from 1962 until 1974.
In TSWLM, you have Anya Amasova as the first really strong, independent, professional Bond girl. From then on more or less all of them are like that. More 3D, independent girls, less in need of Bond rescuing them, more working with him. Dr. Goodhead, Melina Havelock, Octopussy,...even Stacey Sutton is a geologist with her own agenda...
That's what's great about Bond films, and why they're still current. They managed to evolve with the times in everything, so that they never feel passé.
I agree that agent XXX was the first of the 3d Bond girls.
1. For Your Eyes Only 2. The Living Daylights 3 From Russia with Love 4. Casino Royale 5. OHMSS 6. Skyfall
I'd not count her to the Bond girls, but Fiona Volpe was the first one with a totally different approach for a woman in a 007 movie with a very own agenda {[]
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

Actually, Pussy Galore had some purpose
But the one after Anya seemed more 3 dimensional.

Severine may have been a forced sex worker sometime in the past, but I don't think she was at the time Skyfall was taking place. She was in charge of the operation where the guy got shot, hardly the role for a "sex slave." She also appeared to be in charge of an operation to see who would show up with the casino chip and eliminating him.
I got the impression that she was Silva's mistress and second in command (although obviously far less powerful than Silva and greatly in fear of him). It appeared to me that she had a plan that involved using Bond to kill Silva so she could take Silva's place, but Silva was too smart for her.
Although I always thought to balance the less 3d Bond girls. We had
Moneypenny, smart, contemporary and able to vie with Bond on any
Level ?
Good point. In many of the films she is the only person who seems fully aware of his faults and his strengths. She is also able to poke fun at him in a loving way and point out his (at times) ridiculousness. For example in OHMSS when Bond wants to quit and instead she writes a request for two weeks leave.
Most sexist is GF, purely for Connery slapping dink's arse. "Man talk".
FRWL is a close second, as it also features an arse slap, plus bond "deciding" between the 2 gypsy girls.
Least sexist is probably something like TSWLM or TND.

I was disappointed to find out it involved the most/least sexist Bond films.
I also first read it that way
