Best/worst poster?

Which are for you guys the best and worst James Bond movie posters ever? Lots of styles to choose from...

My favourite period has to be that Robert McGuinnis/Frank McCarthy period from TB until TMWTGG, the classic era. Amazing art work. The best for me is OHMSS. Great looking Bond, amazing action, the avalanche...everything is there, so dynamic it almost moves.

The worst period for me are the Brosnan years' computer generated artwork. From GE to DAD I really struggle to pick the worst. It's probably GE. Although honorary mention for the worst Bond artwork ever has to go to the disastrous LTK campaign. The Craig era, although uses photographs and computer generated graphics is much better, specially the magnificent CR campaign.

I pretty much agree with what Virgil says. All the posters in that TB-TMWTGG period were gems. Personal fave- YOLT (with the upside down Bond).

+1, I love that YOLT one too, and all the McGinnis ones - though overall the Thunderball poster (Look up! Look down! Look o(07)ut! Here comes the biggest Bond of all) is my favourite :007)

My least favourite is the pedestrian LTK poster, a real disappointment but driven I gather by the ladt minute change of name from Licence Revoked.

I'd give an honorary mention to TSWLM poster, that distinct style is terrific.

I also love the McGinnis posters, FYEO is in the same league (when the variant gets Moore's face right - many don't)

The ones from the Daltoin age are the most boring ones, Brosnan's where not great either, Craigs period has slightly improved, I liked that SF artwork though:

The volcano YOLT one is very nice. However, I never liked the upside down Bond myself, I think it would improve if they had found a not upside down way of depicting Bond (hanging like a ninja). The way it is, it looks more like Spiderman.

Would you guys think a McGuinnis-like drawing would work now, or would it look old ? I think that as wonderful as they were, they would look awkward now in a theatre lobby, and probably would send the wrong message for SPECTRE.

I think the recent X-MEN poster with its retro styling showed that a similar poster could work for Bond.

I find that my favourite posters pretty much mirror my favourite Bond movies. I like the rough, hand-drawn style of DN and FRWL. I like the striking and iconic posters for GF. I actually don't like the OHMSS posters. The posters are too silly for me and the movie. My favourite Moore Bond is TSWLM, and it features the best poster too - striking and grand. The poster for TLD is a bit like the movie: very well made, but not a classic. The LTK posters are unimpressive. The planned artwork for Licence Renewed was far better.
The GE poster reminds me of the LTK poster: uninspired posters for good movies. The other Brosnan posters are better, but not by much.
CR had great posters. QoS and SF had good posters, but not great like CR.

Always loved the poster to LALD. The weakest for me
    Was QOS,

The worst by far is Skyfall. It's just DC, with absolutely no elements/scenes from the actual film.
    1 - LALD, 2 - AVTAK, 3 - LTK, 4 - OP, 5 - NTTD, 6 - FYEO, 7 - SF, 8 - DN, 9 - DAF, 10 - TSWLM, 11 - OHMSS, 12 - TMWTGG, 13 - GE, 14 - MR, 15 - TLD, 16 - YOLT, 17 - GF, 18 - DAD, 19 - TWINE, 20 - SP, 21 - TND, 22 - FRWL, 23 - TB, 24 - CR, 25 - QOS

    1 - Moore, 2 - Dalton, 3 - Craig, 4 - Connery, 5 - Brosnan, 6 - Lazenby

Maybe not for SPECTRE, but I would love to see one return. I think they look really good, but it think it would suit a new film that feels like an older film. Days of future past's poster did pull off the old feel very well.

My favourites are LALD, Moonraker, Octopussy, AVTAK and TLD (the gunbarrel with the car, the plane etc). I also like the gunbarrel poster for Skyfall and the current poster for SPECTRE. They are very similar and I like the black background. The worst are Licence to Kill, TND, TWINE, DAD and QoS. I really love the painted posters.

I love the yellow Dr No poster by Mitchell Hooks. The posters from the old films had character in them. Not keen on the modern ones.

Saw this Poster for Skyfall online. My favourite fan art one. I wish the official stuff looked like this

My favourite poster? Licence to Kill

My worst poster? Definitely Skyfall. I mean come on... talk about simplicity and shear laziness. Just Bond in front of a simple black and white gunbarrel... Nothing else? Come on... Skyfall deserved a way better film poster than that. Oh, and that one with him lead down under the 007 logo... Seriously?! They used that for the blu-ray cover?! Ugh...

Favourite Bond films: QUANTUM OF SOLACE, SKYFALL and THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS

I do agree with you. They were lazy with the film poster. But most film posters these days come across rushed and without much thought.

I'm not familiar with the YOLT upside-down Bond ? I do like the one with Connery flying Little Nellie.

Interesting that Connery is holding a space helmet in most of the YOLT posters. It's obvious that EON really wanted to take Bond into space.

I dig the artwork on LALD and TMWTGG, but why did they make Roger's eye color brown instead of blue? Huge mistake. Blue eyes are one the main reasons why he's the best Bond.
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

Interesting. TSWLM is my favorite Bond, yet I'm not a fan of the poster art at all. It's too groovy and psychedelic for my taste. My favorite posters of Moore era are AVTAK, OP, and MR.

In general I find that LTD was the last film to feature classic, amazing artwork and it's all been pretty bland from LTK onward.
