My DAF theory

So, at the start of FYEO, Blofelds in a neck brace and wheelchair. So I know John Glen doesn't like DAF and goes back to Blofeld of OHMSS.

However, I like to think of a different theory. After killing Tracy, Blofeld realises Bond will want to kill him. So he begins to have henchmen undertake plastic surgery to look just like him (like in DAF). However, Blofeld is not in DAF. One of the henchmen acts as the real Blofeld and is taking orders from REAL Blofeld. Only the henchmen acting as Blofeld knows this though. When this plan is thwarted, Blofeld hunts for Bond (it takes him so long due to the fact he's in the wheelchair and has the broken neck). And finds him in 1981, where Bond eventually kills him once and for all.

The DAF theory I like is that it's actually a sequel to YOLT (& in the end Blofeld suffers a massive concussion in his bathosub, and goes a little nuts (and also forgets what exactly Bond looked like). OHMSS comes next.

Even though there is the Scene in DAF where Bond and Moneypenny are at the Dover Ferries, and she brings up the Subject of a Wedding Ring. You then have that awkward 3 Second Silence between the both of them -{

That's an interesting theory. Blofeld has to be the most inconsistent character of the series. He's met bond, then he hasn't. He's got a broken neck, then he hasn't. But the three main Blofeld films all seem to start over again with Blofeld. But how did audiences react in 1969 when Blofeld didn't recognise bond?

It's a bit tenuous ( if that's the right word). Blofeld doesn't recognise Bond because he is in the cunning disguise of Sir Hillary Bray (those glasses and pipe would fool anyone, right? ) ). And we can't be sure he broke his neck - it may just have been in a neck brace because he wrenched it or did something less serious.

That may have created a problem for DAF though! Unless George Lazenby's face was just a mask - and at the end of the film he pulls it off to reveal Connery's face- now that would have been an interesting twist!
