:)) To be honest, I'd never thought of that. I'm sure tourists and
Drunks wander all over and in it. :D as you say a bunch of film

    A new one ! ;) :p

I'm sure there are drunks, people otherwise intoxicated, unlicensed drivers, and merely bad drivers who drive past this friggin fountain everyday. Does the Heritage Society do anything about them?

But they complain about a film scene involving expert drivers that's choreographed down to the nanosecond.

Technicaly speaking ,you cannot drive past the Trevi fountain ,as the piazza its in is mostly stepped :D
and the fountain is a wonder to gaze upon and of course to listen to its waters dance majestically down the various statues .
Also the Italian /Rome police make sure that every one behaves by the fountain ,well worth a visit if you get the chance
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

Something like this happens with every Bond film. During the filming of Skyfall merchants in Istanbul first complained about lost business due to filming and then very minor damage to their storefronts (which I'm sure they were well compensated).

A similar Complaint was made during the Filming for GE's Tank Chase.

I don't think this is the Trevi Fountain. This is the four fountains, which is located at a crossroads and people drive past continuously.

I think TSWLM had some serious problems during filming and production. But its now considered one of the best Bond films out there.

    ^This.

Also, please keep in mind that Rome is only denying the car chase in that one specific location, around the fountain. The rest of the chase is still on. And if you read the script, you'll see that this chase is a DOOZY - the final product will be amazing.

The scene in question would not be shot at the Trevi. Although that might offer an alternative - Bond chases Blofeld's henchmen through Rome but is thwarted as a street urchin at Trevi demands to take a Polaroid picture of him with Lea Seydoux :)) .
