FrankenBond

Every Bond film is made up of the various ingredients we're all familiar with and love. What if you could create your Ultimate Bond film using components from different ones? Here's mine:

(Note: I made myself refrain from using more than one part from the same movie)

Pre Title Sequence - TSWLM. The first time you see Bond ski off the mountain and open the Union Jack parachute is simply awesome.

Song - AVTAK. I'm a child of the 80s... what can I say?

Credits - GoldenEye. A great nod to the old-school Binder titles, with a technological upgrade.

Gadgets - TND. I love the cell phone with the stun gun, fingerprint lock pick and, oh yeah, the remote controlled BMW!

Girls - LTK. Lupe and Pam Bouvier are probably the most eclectic pair of Bond Girls.

Henchman - Goldfinger. Oddjob. That's all.

Villain - OHMSS. Blofeld seems an obvious choice, and I've always been partial to Telly's take. (maybe Christoph can change my mind?)

Plot - CR. Not a typical "Bond" plot, but the relative realism and execution win the day.

Bond - Thunderball. Connery at his peak.

That's what my "FrankenBond" looks like. What's yours?

That's what my "FrankenBond" looks like. What's yours?

Pre Title Sequence - TLD, the best there is.
    Song - TLD- Ah HA!
Credits - TLD, old school Binder.
Gadgets - TLD. I love the car.
Girls - TND. Wai Lin just rocked.
Henchman - TND. Necros was serious business.
Villain - LTK. Sanchez was the best.
Plot - GE. Excellent post Cold War story.
Bond - LTK. Dalton. Nobody has ever done it better IMO.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I have to think about this, but will start with the Gun-barrel. I love the Brosnan gun-barrel, minus DAD. No need for the cgi bullet. Give me time and I'll build upon my gun barrel. I'm many beers deep and am having a hard time thinking and typing.

    Mine:

Pre Title Sequence - TSWLM, for the reasons cited by SpangledWeb. No film has done it better.
Song - LALD. McCartney killed this one.
Credits - OHMSS. Love the montage from previous films, plus the stress/pressure implied by the fast-moving clock.
Gadgets - GF. Nothing will ever top the original DB5.
Girls - TB. The combo of Domino and Fiona has never been matched.
Henchman - GF. Oddjob was the template, and still the best.
Villain - GF. Gotta go with Auric, a combination of arrogance, humor and real menace.
Plot - FYEO. Down to earth, and easy to follow. I especially love that the plot is triggered by an accident, not deliberately.
Bond - GF. Connery was at his peak here (started to coast after this). Again, a template that has never been topped.

Wow, that was hard. Some amazing elements missed the cut.
    Hilly...you old devil!

Goldfinger - the formula was perfected.

    Song

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - no vocals, but the sound is lush, strong, hard-driving, and deadly serious with a hint of wit. Everything about it says "James Bond, Agent 007"

    Credits

Goldfinger - I like the fact that it features shots from the actual movie.

    Gadgets

Goldfinger - the DB5; nothing more needs to be said!

    Girls

Tie between Thunderball and License to Kill. This one was real tough because although Fiona is a real standout in TB, Domino leaves me a bit cold. On the other hand, Lupe and Pam are both gorgeous and Pam is a very strong and interesting character. Unfortunately Lupe, as stunningly beautiful as she may be, is not very well acted by Talisa Soto.

    Henchman

Goldfinger - Oddjob is The Boss of all henchmen!

    Villain

Goldfinger (Are we sensing a pattern here?) - The title character strikes me as the quintessential Bond villain - egomanical, ruthless, brutal, vain and not just a little nuts! (Sanchez from LTK is a very strong second).

    Plot

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - This plot has everything you could want in a Bond film: a grand scheme by the villain, Bond combining service to Her Majesty with a personal mission, an underworld ally, romance, suspense as Bond faces real peril. And it doesn't hurt that most of the plot from the novel makes it into the movie.

    Bond

    Hmmmmm......let me think. Connery? :))

    Cool topic, but really no need for a "Frankenbond" when The Spy Who Loves Me is already the ultimate Bond film. -{

Allow me to share this review from Twitchfilm which sums it up best:

"The Spy Who Loved Me is the perfect Bond film. It literally has everything. Were you to compose a checklist of elements that absolutely must appear in a James Bond film to make it so, they are all present and correct in Spy. Not just that, but in almost every instance, they are the best example of each trait that the series has produced."
