this film is the best bond film to date...the reason why...it is a complete bond vehicle!
nobody got in the way of the character! yes we know the writer strike was on...some casting errors...but it's bond being bond...it could have been called bonds day off! it is my go to bond film! thanks Daniel craig

    I hated, hated,hated ...... Hated QOS, when I first watched it. :))
    Did not like it, ....... Have I mentioned I hated it !!! :))

    Luckily, after many viewings and from listening to the arguments of many AJBers
    Who liked it. I slowly began to see some of its good points. So it gradually went from
    The bottom of my list to much higher. {[]

    Its a good solid film. I prefer it to DAD and DAF.
    Craig does a good job and I love the Bell Tower Action Sequence. Its certainly Craig's worst film. And there are some problems with its plot etc. But I understand why people love it. -{

    I watched QoS once, just for the sake of watching it, when I was getting in to Bond. I couldn't get in to it, and, tbh, I have no reason to watch it again. Nothing stood out to me, and it just seemed incredibly boring for me.

    Such a good bond film!! It has two of favourite scenes in it 1, Bond handcuffed in the lift escapes and retrieves his weapons and 2, hops over the balcony in the hotel to avoid more agents !! Awesome!!

    Even if it was a good film. It defintley was a step backwards from CR

    Apart from the whole age theme in SKyfall, they needed a story like that to follow Casino Royale.

    OHMSS is defiantly up there again a perfect story! And the lazy b does a great job, but I have to admit when he turns to the camera in the PTS and states "This never happened to the other fellow"
    It makes me cringe ! I don't think Bond needed to break the 4th wall. Still I loved the film!

    Quantum of Solace was a misfire. There's a good film in there somewhere, and the acting can't be faulted. But it was an artsy, frenetic take on Bond, lacking the character-driven revelations of the superior Casino Royale. It was like going to a fine restaurant and being told you only get 15 minutes to eat your meal. Bond deserves better, and so does the audience.

    I now accept the premise put out by some that QOS is the action filled
    third act to CR. -{

    Agreed. Casino Royale is much better by far.

    I never really saw QoS as a terrible Bond film. To me it just felt a bit different, like they wanted to do something a little more similar to the Bourne trilogy which was incredibly popular at that time. However, trying something new is what the Bond franchise does best. If the franchise didn't do that, Moonraker would never exist. Sometimes it works, sometimes it seems off. QoS felt off, but it was still an enjoyable movie with some great action scenes. It's just a bit on the forgettable side.

    I agree Quantum of Solace is underrated, but to say it's the very best is a big stretch.

    QoS is a much misunderstood film...it will rise through the ranks of fans favourite films just as OHMSS did...I still would have preferred another rewrite of the script and extra 30 mins added...but it's pretty damn fine as it is -{

    I agree with Sir Miles (oh, dear!). The first time I saw it, I thought it was fine. Then as I mulled it over in my head in the coming weeks and months, it began to drop. I've watched it several times since it came out on DVD and quite enjoy it now. I really do feel that with a little bit of work, it could have been a very good film.

    As Sir Miles says, I think QoS will age well and will be a go to Bond film of the future, when the series perhaps starts to become too far fetched and/or gadget laden again.

    For sure, after CR QoS was disappointing and it will never be as good a film in my opinion, but I was also quite disappointed by LTK after TLD and now that's a solid film in my opinion.

    Although QoS and LTK will never be in my top 5, I can really appreciate them and there are some great Bond moments. In particular regarding QoS, I love the opening car chase, the foot chase through Siena, Bond drowning his sorrows on Vespers -{ -{ -{ -{ -{ -{ The death of Mathis is very moving, and I think the Opera scene was very nicely done.

    P.S. Without the writers strike and if QoS had had a half decent title song (Arnold/Bassey - No Good about Goodbye) and Daniel Kleinman had been on board for the titles it would have been even better.

    Just my tuppence worth.. :)
