Daniel Craig Bond BIO INFO

SFPROPSSFPROPS USAPosts: 380MI6 Agent
Some of you may have already known all of this and I'm late to the party. I'll update for those of us who are just finding out...

James Bond (Daniel Craig incarnation)
Birthday: April 13, 1968
Employed by the Minstry of Defense: 19 years as of 2015
Got 00 status (CR PTS): August of 2001
Royal Navy: 1986-1996
RNR Defence: 1996-99
MI6 Officer: 1999 - Present

Is this common knowledge or did I just find out something useful? :D

Where'd you get the 2001 date?
  • SFPROPSSFPROPS USAPosts: 380MI6 Agent
    From QOS.

Can you be more specific? It's established in CR (via dialogue - "I give him 00 status and he celebrates by shooting up an embassy", "I knew it was too early to promote you") that he JUST got his 00 status, and there are time stamped visuals in the film placing it in 2006. Is QoS suggesting that five years passed between CR's PTS and the main narrative, or that everything from CR to QoS is meant to take place in 2001? (Extra odd, given 9/11 is also mention in CR's dialogue)

HH HM: You've got a point there. I was trying to see if anyone could find a discrepancy in the data provided.

Where at in QOS did I get it specifically?

During the conference call with Bond, Tanner and M when they where finding out where the plane with Greene and the CIA was headed, the onscreen computer visuals provided info on both Bond and Greene. I took several of the cut up screen shots with Bond and grafted them together to get this:

    BIO.jpg

    UK/LONDON
    CAUCASIAN
    APR 13 1968
    UNMARRIED
    SSID# 94612751
    DL N/A
    AKA 007

    MI6 AGENT
    EMPLOYED 12 YEARS
    OO STATUS 08.01

    ROYAL NAVY 86-96
    RNR DEFENCE 96-99
    MI6 OFFICIER 99-9P

The 4/13/68 birthday is also what they have used in other places, like the passport they had made for him for Skyfall (which wasn't seen onscreen), so I'd assume that the information the company that did the computer graphics got the information from some kind of official source.

Not sure how this lines up with CR though. I forgot about M's words regarding Bond's promotion.

Have you ever heard the Villiers spoken biography about 007? Back when CR came out, there was an interactive part of the official casino royale website where you can see blurry pdf copies of all of Bond's paperwork, military discharge papers etc. I could have sworn it had Bond's 00 date.

I am pretty sure its still around, let me check.

Shoot, the one I knew about is not working on the sony site. I am still checking.

Sadly I can't remember who posted it but there was a link to an mi6
Bio on Bond which had, his time line etc up dated.

I could find the site on archive.org, but couldn't get the page to fully load once I got to the "dossier" part that has the relevant info.

I remember the site now, but didn't take screen captures back then when I should have!

That is what I was talking about courtesy of the wayback machine. Clicking Dossier was a lot of fun back then, and now it seems they removed it. Really bummed.

I've got it on file somewhere. I'll dig it out.

Ah, sorry I missed your post.

That would be awesome ASP. I am pretty sure I have it on my old computer as well.

FYI, this is the written form of what was on the site:

    http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/bond_21_007_dossier1.php3

And click on the bottom for these:

    James Bond's Dossier - History
James Bond's Dossier - Military Record
James Bond's Dossier - Psychological Report
James Bond's Dossier - Service Record

The cool thing about the official dossier was that they included (very blurry) screenshots of these documents.

The UK gang can weigh in here, but isn't it likely that "08 01" here means January 2008? QoS retconned the dates to make QoS an "immediate sequel" to CR, but all the "wildcard hotheaded new 00" chatter wouldn't fly if he's been one for 7 years.

    No, that isn't likely.
Perhaps this is simply keeping up Fleming's tradition of being vague and contradictory about dates! :)

    Yes, thats probably it :)

Perhaps the reason for the vagueness is so Bond can remain timeless?

It could just be a typo because the company doing the graphics where in quite a bit of a rush.

How do I know that they were a little rushed?

    Screen_Shot_2015_02_05_at_12_33_48_PM.jpg

If they weren't, there would be something other than "TEXT HERE" placeholders next to Bond's face in many shots. :))

    :))

Man, I'd really love to get one of the higher end MI6 badges with that photo on it.

The screen shot is small, making the photo a little low in resolution. It's just doable, just on the cusp of what one might view as acceptable though given the noise in the photo.
