Thank you, guys, glad you're enjoying these (and I trust Chris's pals at mi6 are continuing to enjoy them, as well). I'll take a break for a while now- if anyone wants to have a bash, please go right ahead! Still plenty more to tackle, as well as finishing off "Ye Gilded Eye".
So far:
PHYSICIAN, NAY
HE OF THE GILDED FINGER
YE BALL OF THUNDER
THOU TWICE SHALT LIVE
IN SERVICE OF HER MAJESTY, MOST DISCREETLY
LONG LIVE THE GEMSTONES
THE YEOMAN WITH THE GILDED CROSSBOW
SOLELY FOR THINE EYES
THE LIGHT OF DAY THAT SURVIVES
BREATH SHALL NE'ER LEAVE THE COMING DAY
THE ROYAL GAMBLING TAVERN
"Sir James: ‘Tis now time to stuff my Christmas turkey.
Doctor Turkey: Oh, Sid James! I mean, Sir James!"
Much better than the original! (Laughing smiley) Nice, unexpected mention of Roger Moore there as well. (chuckling smiley)
and
(ROTF, laughing smileys) I love these .(clapping smiley)
Thanks TP, I've revised & edited most of the "playlets" and am thinking of hiving them off into a separate thread as someone clever suggested.
I missed a lot of great stuff during my self imposed exile. This is great. A real hoot. Thanks to the estimable TP for drawing attention to it, and thanks for doing it in the first place {[]
Of that of which we cannot speak we must pass over in silence- Ludwig Wittgenstein.
This is great! maybe I can find more of the Bard's source material from the Norse sagas, but the Bard's work tend to be superiour to the sagas of Jostein Bonde.
Or perhaps:
The Saga of the Balls of the Thunder God
The Saga of the Queen's Gambling Shieldhall
Only You Can Look
Enough Gentle Feelings
The Saga of the Daylight that Lived
The Saga of the Man Who Two Times Lived
Because of the use of leeches, "doctors" were often called 'leeches' in the middle ages. Besides, it sounds like one of the older Norwegian words for doctor - "lækjar".
I might write "Enough Gentle Feelings - a saga of revenge" one of these days. I would really like it if someone wrote .... I mean found, a Bond movie written in the style of Agatha Christie! )

If anyone is interested in doing a better job, I'd be very grateful.
