I officially have a new worst Bond & Bond film...

Having rewatched all of the Bond films over the past two weeks (except for The World Is Not Enough, which for some reason will not play on my laptop. I even bought another copy at a used book shop last week and it won't play either (no clue why), I officially have a new worst Bond and Bond film.
Congratulations, Mr. Dalton. The truth is, I wanted to like him in spite of his chip-on-the-shoulder attitude toward all things Bond, but I literally could not find a single redeeming factor in his portrayal of Bond. I tried. I failed. (No offense intended to fans of Mr. Dalton)
As for my new worst Bond film, Licence to Kill now takes that prize, surpassing my former least favorite, Octopussy. The acting, woodenness of every single scene, dialogue, stunts, girls, locations, cars, (feel free to insert any and every other thing associated with the film here), etc. Though I've never cared for it, it had been a couple of years since I last watched it. Gosh, it was more painful than I remember or thought possible. And all this coming on the heels of watching a geriatric Moore in Octopussy and Connery in Never Say Never Again.
All this to say, does everyone's least favorite Bond sync with their least favorite Bond film? Would enjoy hearing everyone's worst/worst.
Now, if you will pardon me, I must seriously contemplate repurposing my LTK CD as a beverage coaster...

Perhaps...nope! Seriously, I think he fared better before DC came on the scene but ever since CR I just have trouble watching his two contributions.
I read somewhere on here that a few people really like his portrayal. I need to go back and reread the whys and such
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
I definitely like his earlier ones more than his later ones. Until this weekend, I think Octopussy was my least favorite film.
FYEO was the first Bond film I saw in a theater when I was a senior in high school, so that period of Moore has withstood the test of time with me.
Hahaha! This is true! Is his acting the same in other films? I've not watched him in any non-Bond films. Recommendations?
Hahaha...I will check that out...on both counts!
And I really do enjoy Dalton's two films, neither of them are among my least favourite's. I give the edge to Licence To Kill, due mainly to Franz Sanchez, Felix Leiter, Pam Bouvier, and the tanker sequence.
Have you read the books ?
For contrast, which are your favourite films ?
Yes, have read all of the Fleming novels (many times each, actually) and about 1/3 of the ones following him. Just started Boyd's Solo last night. I prefer Fleming's books to the films, though I feel DC has gone a long way in bringing the Bond of Fleming's novels to the screen, character wise.
I'm really liking DC's portrayal of Bond. I think his three films are among the best. My top 5 would have to be - CR, DN, TB, QOS, and OHMSS. If I had to stretch that to a top 10, I would add - SF, GF, TSWLM, FRWL, and FYEO.
I thought Sanchez was a redeeming factor in LTK. He reminded me of some of the earlier villains from the Connery era.
Count yourself lucky you only have two films to avoid. ) imagine if you disliked
Roger Moore !
) ) ) Indeed, a silver lining!
Afraid you might be right Hopefully he will teach me the secret handshake...or do we simply have to be able to tear up on demand?
Hahaha...just lovely
Daltons the best in my book.
However, I can't stick Brosnan - so I sympathise
I really liked Dalton. He portrayed the anger, and frustration of being a man on a dangerous stressful job. I think the older movies have sort of glamorized Bond as a superhero who is perfect, sexy and saves the world. But I just find Dalton's take on Bond much more honest and cathartic. Connery was stoic about everything and Moore had a cavalier attitude toward things, but Dalton just didn't take crap from anyone.

I liked Dalton better before Craig came on the scene for all of the reasons you mention, but I think Craig does a superior job at portraying the Bond from the Fleming Novels. So now I don't really have a category for Dalton as he doesn't fit into the Connery, Moore, or Lazenby categories and Craig is so much better (imho) that I can no longer take him serious in that category either.
I'm beginning to believe I just shouldn't have watched LTK or TLD in the same marathon as all of the others...maybe that would have preserved my opinion of Dalton
Somehow I dont think he will..
Only if the Broccolis lose control. I see a Bond with 'long hair' being laughed off the screen
