Yahoo! Movies article in which Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie talk in detail about the plane stunt in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
M:I Was very good
M:2 Was not a bad Film, but it was bland and repetitive.
M:3 Was alright, but the Story was a bit daft.
M:4 Was the best so far.
I'm really looking forward to the new Film. I would say that the Films (And the Television Series) have been inspired by the Bond Franchise. What Action/Espionage Film hasn't since GF?
I only ever watched the first two, and despite enjoying the first I still think that Goldeneye is better because its James Bond, and two it was the first Bond movie I ever saw on the big screen. In fact I saw three times during 1995/early 1996, and I began collecting James Bond movie merchandise as a hobby as result. IMHO, Mission: Impossible II felt too much like it ripped off Goldeneye and other Action/Spy movies at the end of the day for me, plus too much attention was focused on Tom Cruise and not the whole team like it was on the original television show.
For the record: I just watched 4 episodes from Mission Impossible Season 2 TV series. They were quite clever and well written. The production values were higher than what I was expecting. It was fun watching them go undercover to trick the baddies with overly-elaborate schemes.
My current 10 favorite:
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

Season 2 was fairly weak IMHO. If you liked those, half of season 1 was better, 3 was better, 4 & 5 were really good, and 6 & 7 were as good.
Like Star Trek, it was pretty uneven with sparkling gems sprinkled throughout its run.
I liked the 'domestic' episodes better than the international ones due to my personal dislike of seeing everyone always speaking English (also, same with Trek ) ).

I think rather like the Tardis, if you're in the vicinity of Tom, you automatically

Dude, the M:I movies are just big fun! It's not the series, but then it really couldn't be.
I do understand that, it is just that I prefer James Bond 007 when it comes to my taste in fictional spies that is all. Plus I am a second generation Bond fan thanks to my father, and I would not have any other way.
The new MI trailer is exciting. It's like the Bond films used to be in the Moore era, raising the bar in terms of action. However, for all that, I have to say that while I don't much like the Craig era, I can see that Spectre is just more exciting a prospect in the way it is marketed. Having Craig just makes a difference, but Cruise is more of the same again, so they have to up the ante with action.
I loved MI 1 and thought it better than GE, with a great feel to it and nice twists. The sequel was dogged, like TND, but script rewrites and mess ups and while I love Woo's Face/Off, superior to many many Bonds imo, his MI 2 is a dog's dinner and the climax was rewritten as they couldn't get the go head with the original idea at the time.
The third I caught on DVD cos the poster campaign was so awful, it put me off. I found it a bit grim, though the escape of Seymour Hoffman in the Florida Keys (if I recall) was how Sanchez's escape should have been in LTK. Otherwise the whole mask switching rubbish got on my nerves and I can't recall much of it, except Hunt's team never really got going as a unit and they got ditched for the next one. Which brings us on to the change of director for each movie, giving it something in common with the Brosnan films. You feel the character and universe is slightly different each time so it is hard to bond with it, so to speak.
I like the fourth one kind of, and it improved by not having the face mask rubbish, but it still seemed rather hollow and flashy to me. I can see the perils of having a Bond movie done like this, it still feels kind of synthetic to me. I sort of prefer US action thrillers to not go this way and instead be straight up popcorn fare with Bruce or Arnie or Ford.
I can't help it, when watching a bit of action and that theme music starts.
I'm straight into turning to an Imaginary camera and freezing for my name to
