Where do you think Spectre will be in the ranking list?

From #1 to #23 (soon to be 24), we've always ranked the Bonds. Where do you think Spectre will end up in your ranking list?

I'm going to guess it will be in the middle, perhaps higher middle, like from #8 to #12. Perhaps it could be top 5 material, but I'm not going to over-hype it. I doubt it will rank in the lower end from #15 to #24, as it has Craig, sufficient time (unlike QOS) and the same guy that directed Skyfall, but you never know.

Even with the controversies and such with the leaks, Eon seems the most focused and confident on what kind of picture they want to produce as they've ever been.

I am hoping it will be in my top 10. Casino Royale is probably about No. 3 or 4 for me, but it is the only one of Craig's that is in my top 10.

    It looks great so far.

SF and CR are both in my top 5. QOS is in my top 15-20.

Given the competition of the other films in the series, anything Top 10 will be deemed as a major success in my eyes. Having said that, even if it's Top 15, it'll still be good with some classic Bond moments. Would love for it to be Top 5 of course, but it would really have to go some to break into there.. :)

It would be ideal if each Bond films was better than the last. And, I admit, that's already a strength of the series. AVTAK, DAD and DN are on the lower portion of my ranking list for example, but I enjoyed those movies. That's what makes the Bond films hard to rank, is the fact that I like almost all of them.

I'd rather assume Spectre is going to be a very good but not amazing film, so there's more room to be amazed.

Like all of the Bond films after The Living Daylights, this will probably end up in the lower half of my rankings.

    That nostalgia tho.

Are you saying that I rank the older Bond films higher because of nostalgia? I wasn't even born yet when my favourite Bond films were made.

I'm just curious what made every single one of the post-1985 films weak. Was it the violence?

I think we're all hoping it's #1 quality but it won't be able to fulfill everyone's needs so that's unlikely.

I'm hoping it's top 3 territory personally. Loved Casino Royale, really liked Skyfall and hoping Spectre builds and improves on that.

That's part of it. The older films were spy films, but now they are action films. Licence to Kill was too violent, which was a response to new films like Die Hard. Since the 90s Bond has become more of an action machine than a human spy. There's less personality in the films now. I liked it better when Bond got out of situations other than by shooting everyone in sight. It was more interesting that way. I also find the one-on-one fist fights that were in many of the old films to be much more interesting than the larger scale fights.

I have to agree with this, I love all the Bond films, but I do like the "spy film" Bonds over and above the "large action" Bonds. Casino Royale was an amazing return to form which managed to combine a bit of both.

LTK was more violent, but I think it suited Dalton's character and the overall revenge tone of the film.

If it's as good as SF & CR it'll easily get in my bottom ten. Can't see it getting a higher placing, but who knows...

I sincerely hope it is going to be the best Bond movie yet. With technology, cinematography and budgets forever getting bigger and better it should be shouldn't it?

I have to admit I hated Skyfall on the first viewing. I now absolutely love it. Also I am unashamedly a big fan of both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, so I am going to bravely, naively and confidently grab the bull by the horns (or the wolf by the ears as the old Roman saying goes) and say that once it has matured with me SPECTRE will join the other Daniel Craig forays and be in my top five. Fingers crossed it makes the Number One spot.

The Violence in LTK can be considered Tame compared to whats being included in current Films nowadays.

It's not as violent as The November Man, but LTK is still the most violent Bond film. However, Bond seems a lot more human in it than in any movie since. I miss that human element.

I think that SPECTRE will definitely be in the top 10. Just the amount of cinematography and special effects we have nowadays makes us appreciate and feel like we are on the ride with Bond.

After seeing this new video, very high. I love everything about it.
Naomi as Moneypenny looks modern and still classic. The old office is nice, when Bond opens the door it's like an old Bond movie shot. I'm so hyped! Hoping I don't exSPECTRE too much

At the risk of sounding like a sour killjoy, this topic is really kind of pointless. First of all because the movie is still being made: we've got set photos and a leaked script (which I've avoided), but it's nothing to base an evaluation of the film on. Then there's the fact that after SPECTRE is released, we'll be fighting over it. I think most Bond fans like Skyfall, with many even naming it one of the best films in the series, but we still have people chiming in with comments that it's the worst film in the series, possibly the worst movie ever made, etc., etc. I look for a repeat of this dissension with SPECTRE.

    Based on three things...

    A. Sam Medes
    B. My enjoyment of Skyfall.
    C. Set photos so far.
    D. Reading the leaked script.

I'm not sure how this isn't at the very least going to be a GOOD Bond film, if not a great one. There's going to be things some people really don't like, and of those others will absolutely love. I'm betting if you loved Skyfall and Casino Royale (QOS is decent, but not high level Bond to me) that the story in Skyfall will resonate and if executed properly will have you cheering in the theater. Some loose ends are going to be tide up and some new ones created.

If it's executed well (and this is where Mendes comes in) I think it will be a VERY, VERY good film (not just a good Bond film) like Skyfall. It impacts Bond personally, and the entirety of the Bond universe.

Given the level of talent involved, I'm sure SPECTRE will be at least a pretty good movie. Whether it's a great movie depends on the chemistry, if any, between Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux.

That two of the DC films are in my Top 5 and a third makes it into my Top 10, I'm hopeful SP will break my Top 5.

So far my Top 10 looks like this - CR, DN, TB, QOS, OHMSS, SF, GF, TSWLM, FRWL, and FYEO. If I had to place the bet, I'd say it will come in at #4 for me, edging out QOS. Fun to speculate this early in the game.
  • Absolutely_CartAbsolutely_Cart NJ/NYC, United StatesPosts: 1,740MI6 Agent
I have no idea what my top 10 is at this point, but the candidates are.

    Connery: DN, FRWL, GF
    Lazenby: OHMSS
    Moore: TSWLM, OP
    Dalton: TLD, LTK
    Brosnan: GE
    Craig: CR, SF

So, if Spectre gets top 10, then Octopussy or one of Dalton's films might get dropped a spot.
